The chieftain

So with the new ship almost upon us and what is known so far about it I've started engineering the modules for it but what I've missed is the utility mounts I'm guessing 4-6 but anyone know the exact amount it has? I'll post below the size modules for anyone wanting to know.

I didn't even know that anyone knew what its internals would be like already.

Don't you think you're being a little hasty? It'll be some time before we get the ship on xbox.
 
There was a live stream last night revealing its internals, just engineering now to beat the changes with the update as I'm not liking the looks of what's being implemented. Plus it just something to do to keep me playing.

Four utilities.

It pretty much looks like a big Diamondback. If it runs cold, it really is.

Not a ship for me. I need something small, fast, and able to carry a moderate hold of cargo.

There were 4 utility mounts, as I recall.

Also, what's everyone's issues with the new engineers? What they're implementing sounds a lot less RNG-based.

What I understand is every module starts at grade 1 and once you get the grade 5 roll you want the same next module starts back at grade one. Sounds like a lot of materials are needed, But time will tell it's still early days.
 
Maneuverability wise its pretty much on par with an assault ship (only difference is FAS has 4 degrees more yaw).

Speed wise it hits 267m/s cruise and 383m/s boost fully A rated.

Hull is at 504 with lightweight bulkheads.

Shield strength is 327 with 2 A boosters and a 5A generator.
 
Don't worry, I forsee a lot of tears over the new engineering and expect the grind to be rolled back somewhat fairly soon after launch - just hope lots of people test it in the beta to find out (if FD include it?).

Yes the chieftain was said to have four utility slots.

Very nice looking med ship, maybe not a python beater, but it certainly looked very manoeuvrable, altho not much faster.
The jump range was no better either (and they had no military slots filled at the time!).

It runs 380 plus without mods. Put some DD grade 5 on it and I’m sure you will hit 550-600. And it is more agile than many smaller ships, such as the cobra. It packs an okay punch. All weapons are centered so great for fixed. That being said, the cargo capacity may be an issue... I’m sure though it will be a fun ship. Now if I don’t remember wrong you love the cobra ship right? Though we have not seen the other ship yet ( forgot the name of it) that one I think will be more your style:)

I admit that said vessel does hold my interest.
 
The Cheiftan looks like a decent all-rounder. It doesn't look hugely combat focussed although it was hard to tell from the livestream (Ed took a couple of pot-shots at a viper and then ran away :))

As it stands (and things might change in the beta), it doesn't seem to excel in any area which is a bit underwhelming.

Ahh yes the Krait thank you. I think that ship will be more like the Cobra. Speculation only ofc. Looking forward to see it. I got some nice plans with the Chieftain also.

it is combat oriented. If we look at the viper mk 3 that one is a combat vessel too. I can destroy corvettes in that without breaking a sweat. Imagine what I can do in the Chieftain. It is just as fast or faster than many of the smaller ships. More maneuverable. All weapons are centered, perfect for fixed weapons...Put dd drives on the bad boy. Two large pa’s. one pack hound. 3 smaller enforcer cannons. I’m gonna melt faces and drink tears from many griefers in this ship. It is gonna suck at cargo runs though big time. But that is not what it was designed for. It is a fast and nimble medium sized strike craft. And will be deadly with fixed. Sure the other ships in the same size have stronger firepower but they are slower. They need gimbal or turreted weapons. But the Chieftain can overcome them with raw speed, agility and the perfect centered weapons. Fixed fixed fixed all the way baby :D oh and Ed( not trying to hate but) he was perhaps the WORST person to demonstrate combat. I mean come on. He could not beat a type 7 even if he was in a vulture. He even admits he sucks donkey balls at combat. So that really puzzles me why they put a non combat pilot to demonstrate a combat ship. Almost the same as putting a country line dancer to demonstrate how to steer The international space station. Makes zero sense...he is good at landing. Yaaay. But that did not serve the Chieftain justice... poor demonstration if you ask me. Put someone who CAN FLY to demonstrate... Again this is not to hate Ed. Cause he seems like a really nice guy. But this here was completely out of his league. And he even admitted that haha:D
