The Code has left Archon.

OOC. We had a vote and discussion and decided that the grind was no fun and that The Code was losing it's ability to make news (Flipping Leesti, Chasing Away a Capital Ship from Earth, being the official opposition to some Community Goals, Kidnapping people, etc) and so we are no longer aligned en mass to Archon. Individual members are free to go with whatever power they wish (including Archon) as long as they drop the grind for group manoevers and crew assistance.

IC.

So.. This Archon guy comes to me in person and says 'Ano, you're my kind of guy. Your crew has been making waves. Come over and make an alliance. I have my tech guys making some sweeeeeee et tech and I'm running my own space. You can be one of my trusted lieutenants if you bring your guys over."

So that sounded good. So over we went. We were a little disheartened to learn running a couple of systems was less about scantily clad slave girls serving you rum and more about being a postal worker. Ok, I can live with this for I while. I imagine the slave girls are worth waiting for and I guess some bureaucracy is expected.

I tap my fingers on my ornate desk as my guys are delivering chits and occassionally shooting guys but doing little actual piracy when one of my boys breathlessly runs into my office and exclaims that the new weapon is ready. I go out to watch the demonstration.

I push my way to the front of my crew and watch. First we are amazed, then we are angry and then we laugh. The Cytoscrambler, the glorious shield stripper of our dreams is like the child of a laser pointer and a discoball.

I meet up with Archon and we have a frank and lively debate. He promises it will improve. I don't think so. Out of courtesy, I give him two weeks to improve it. He doesn't. We leave.

The Code are going back to basics. Please drop cargo when we ask and get to see your children again.

So they are not exactly free, are they. This is one of the reasons I dislike guilds so much.

I don't even have any cargo slots - so you have no business with me.

Some guilds are basically just social groupings, extended groups of friends and teammates who help each other out. Others want to do specific stuff - achieve notoriety, progress at difficult content, engage in large scale PvP, whatever. There's absolutely nothing wrong with either kind of guild, you know what you're getting into when you join a guild with specific requirements.

It's mutual assistance. Guys help you if you are in trouble, you help guys if they are in trouble.

Nothing wrong with that - and if you and your group are having fun and enjoying playing the game - then that's great! The problem - as I see it - is simply that there comes a point in most guilds where the group itself becomes more important than the fun to be had by being in it. That's when things go downhill very quickly. If you and your group can keep it fun for everyone - then that's all good!

GL to Code, I have always been a fan of your antics in ED :D
Sad to see you leave Archon but I think we can all understand your reasons.

As a personal note on the issue, as many of you know that I update the Archon Delaine Power Play Discussion thread.

I will keep updating the thread until I decide to stop, and I will notify people in advance.

But yes, the Code as a syndicate is leaving the Kumo Crew.

I personally, as a privateer, consider myself a part of the Kumo Crew, still.

Ouch, consigned to the Lore and Roleplay section. Weird, EIC's post about them leaving Torval stayed in Dangerous.

Yep, noticed that, too.

Most likely certain moderators/developers have some personal issues with the Code, but meh, happens.

Power is to be abused for personal gains and discretion, typical.

Edit:

They moved EIC's too, <3 whoever did it.

Respect to the code.

Worthy of a Galnet story

I can't say I am surprised.

I'm not affiliated with any group, but life with Archon is not what I thought it would be.

PP is a relentless grind and I'm not sure I want to be part of it anymore. I may go off and do some actual pirating ..

The pirates are too bureaucratic, and nobody's mentioned The Crimson Permanent Assurance?

Well, I enjoyed the read so +1 and I also like the request made at the end.
It will all depend on the day and how I feel at the time Mr code.

Come on do keep up Cadoc ;) Anyone would think you don't read the news....hang on, ERM...;)

Precious Empire innit!

Love the PP analysis btw.

Thanks mate! Honestly though, I think it's a matter of different moderators handling matters differently - or maybe the IC-to-OOC balance in this post was soon to be more skewed towards the former.
