General / Off-Topic The coming French elections

That's a fair definition; one that, however, doesn't applies to criticism of an ideology.

Fair? Maybe. Unfortunately it's not an accurate definition.

Fascism: "an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization."

People like to throw the words "Fascist" and "Communist" around without regard to their original meaning. They're definitions are lost in favor of treating them as hurled insults. You really know when you've exited the realm of coherent conversation when you hear someone like America's Hilary Clinton referred to as a "fascist".

"Oh? When did she join the vast right-wing conspiracy?"

Yea, that's a nice rig there.
But let's protest the 20 euro taking care of refugees costs. It will certainly bancrupt the EU. :D

Yeah ... did you click the link in his sig? I'm jealous :)

Indeed; fascism, as it happens, was a very specific case of dictatorship - hailing from non other that my very own country. Not that I'm proud of that.
It did had an incredible hold on the population; I still remember my grandparents, that all lived through it, to be under Mussolini's charm. But then again, when the education levels are low and there is no way to form your own opinion by listening to independent sources, it's not easy to develop a critical spirit.

And thanks for the compliments on the rig - it took over 2 years of saving to put it together.

I could buy one today ... but I'd also be buying a divorce :(

I like the wife so I'll keep my low-end setup for now. She's a generous enough woman so perhaps over the course of a few more birthdays and Christmases I'll catch up :)

Yea, I have two of them. Not so savvy, but one's for my wife and one for me.
I also pay a metric ton of taxes (about .. 4-8 such systems a year), so I don't feel too bad or unsocial for keeping 2 to myself.

Whew! Good to know.

And yet a lot of people are terrified about it spreading through the EU like an especially virulent strain of flu. It's very confusing. Maybe they think that if they'll ever have a conversation with a Muslim, they'll suddenly feel the urge to pray five times a day.

Exactly this.

I see you have a complete life, full with friends and fun.

Said the person sitting with a solitaire game like Elite: Dangerous, exploring the lonely fake universe for hours each day.

I sure hope you have someone to talk to except on forums like these. But then again, you maybe like that.

Exactly. Mussie based his "Fascistas" on the Stoicism of the Roman Empire. And the global power that it wielded. Everyone using the word Fascism should study Roman Stoicism. It is actually a very interesting adventure going back through time.

You then understand that the left is just based on the negativism of positivism.

( And it is a wild ride, all back to Jesus and back to the Old Greek wizards of ancient times. A never ending chain of enlightenment and mind blowing rediscovery of knowledge. )

Macron is not this. Macron is something new and dangerous: A banker with deep and dubious connections.

Money will be spent, loans will be taken, weapons and security systems will be bought... all of and on the same secret organisation that controls most of the financials of the world.
Compound interest is the most powerful force in the universe. Debt is more efficient than any soldier or ideology for taking down a society of peace loving socialists. Because the socialists mostly accept the debt over progress.

Bingo. :)

Unlike you i do very well without talking to anyone, or messing with others... This is what means to be an introvert, and i don't trying to fill this emptiness in my life with ganking and trolling. Because you see? I maybe lonely, but i can accept this, and I'm not desperate to fill this void with things like griefing or trolling, like you or trixx instead real life, and friends. Talking about this? I'm also not desperate to get "someone" to my life, or get laid all the girls. ;)

But the likes of you? Are desperate and because no one cares about you you using tools like this to get attention. Mistake! No one likes to be hurt, or messed with and we do avoid these kind of persons.

And also? this is your problem! That hole! Right there.

But back to France.

It looks like FN is managing to blur some of their hard edges in the minds of the voters, and become an "acceptable protest party / opposition party" in the minds of some voters. It's quite possible that they'll manage something like the right-wing populist "True Finns" (they keep changing that translation) party in Finland, and get significant representation in the parliament and in local elections. It's easier in Finland's straight up percentage based popular vote system though.

It would be unfortunate if that happens, and I mean unfortunate for France and the people who put their trust in FN. The example here shows that the people who get elected from such parties are not interested in actual parliamentary work, nor municipal work. They tend to be only interested in a single issue, their hatred of immigration. The resulting MPs are poorly educated, unprepared for the job, and really bring down the tone of discussion at the national parliament and city councils. They tend to also have very hard line right wing policies on both social and economic issues (despite being voted in largely by unemployed, working class and pension age voters), and end up supporting anti LGBT, misogynistic, and other such causes usually driven by the right wing fringe of more established right wing parties.

The good news is that if such people actually get into power (in a coalition), they'll disappoint the people who voted them in, and lose their support in a few short years. It seems to be almost a law of nature.

For the sake of everybody in France, I hope you won't have to go through the stupidity Finland's going through now with our version of FN. It may be the only way for their supporters to learn what they really are, but it's really annoying and harmful while it's going on.

Amun, brother... Amun!

(Very cool reply btw. I liked the guitar video.)

A wealthy white bloke, terrified of "islamization" and hoping that a fascist gangster would have become the president of France. It's too bad you don't understand how embarrassed you should be for what you just said.

"Islam" is not contagious, and France isn't even getting much immigration these days. Try to grow out of your fascism. Some people actually manage it, over time.

Fascists because we can actually see the huge downsides mass-immigration brings..

You know some people actually care about their peaceful homelands and want them to stay that way. Our ancestors worked hard to build up all this for us.

It's sad(and surprising) to see even Finland has started to accept mass-immigration. What happened?

Ah yes, nothing like anecdotal evidence to stir up the hate. :) God forbid facts, statistics and logic is used! Anyone interested in emotional recountings of crimes by white non-muslims? Ah, I forgot, those are 'lone sick individuals'.

Finland? Peaceful?

I know you're blocking me, because different opinions are tough to deal with, but I will comment on this anyway.

The EU need to deal with it ASAP! if they can't they, and they (EU) alone will push people into the arms of the radical parties and HEY look at the 1930's all over again.

The incompetence of the EU will bring it to it's knees.

Why do people keep saying that anti Islamic sentiment is racist and fascist ? I will never vote for the far right or any right wing party, i'm not a racist, Islam is not a race, it is an ideology to be opposed and discouraged just like christianity and fascism and communism, i have said many times that the left needs to wake up and defend secularism in a way that protects and integrates everyone including Islam's first victims, Muslims, because if we don't find a left wing integration solution, the far right will come along and they don't care about individual Muslims rights at all......then you will see real racism. Stop ignoring the issues and stop calling all those who oppose religion "racists and fascists".

What is sad is you linking to such a deluded individual. Shameful. My ancestors took this place from the Saami, as did yours in Norway. Your hard working ancestors then became Vikings, pillaging and colonising the coasts of Europe, and among other things selling my ancestors to slavery in the East.

So get off your high horse man. Racism is for the weak minded and fearful. Norway deserves so much better than what you are peddling.

Well said Sir.

Once on the Elite Authoritarian Socialist spot, blocking everyone with a different opinion, gives the same benefit to the perpetrator as pure fascism.

This is a common problem in socialist nations, where the ruling lefties just block everyone else, and thus stay in power and do whatever they want.

The socialism is not the problem, it's the closed minded fools that have taken over it.

You are denying the ethnic component in this. I'm amazed if you actually can't see that a huge amount of the "anti Islam" movement is at its heart "anti brown" and "anti Arab". Denying that is intellectual dishonesty.

Even you who talk about being "against all faiths" admitted that you actually had thought very little about others than Islam. I applaud the fact that you've accepted the problem as essentially universal as evidence has been brought forth, but you started this conversation very strongly focused only on Muslims.

The Islamic faith isn't contagious. It's not making converts in Europe, hence the strong anti-Islamic sentiment is essentially an anti-arab and anti-Brown sentiment. The two can't be separated, not really.
