the current meaning of pips in percent

Hey all,

I am still courious about my WEP pips. Are each pip set to WEP worth 25 % of WEP recharge speed? Do 2 pips need exactly twice that long to get the WEP bar full than 4 pips? Then 3 pips on WEP means 75 % of recharge speed?

Tnx for help, Imo

Pips affect each aspect differently, and on a curve, where the affect spikes at four pips, and tails off significantly as you go down in numbers. This has the effect of making four pips the significant setting, causing us to have to move the pips around, rather than establishing a static setting based on a ships attributes and it's build.

I need to know the exact difference between 1, 2, 3 and 4 pips. While wep recharge is the fastest with 4 pips what does it mean with 3, 2 or 1 pip? :)

Well beside that I am not asking for pips on sys this video is obsolete. As far as I know Frontier adjusted the pips for sys lately. I asked about pips on WEP recharge ...

coriolis.edcd.io allows you to move pips around and see real numbers for any given ship build. Go check that out. It even has graphs!

For WEP, you want to look at the the "offense" tab, as it will give you the time to drain the WEP capacitor base on the current pip setting and the weapons equipped. The time to drain at the top bar assumes you have 4 pips to wep.

Well, it looks like you're going to have to whip out the calculator, and figure it out for yourself.

5 n=1
10 Take figure that is total WEP capacity.
20 Fire beam laser until capacitor depleted.
30 Time to recharge at n pip.
40 Divide capacity by recharge time to get MW/s.
50 n=n+1
60 If n<4 Goto 20, Else stop.

Tada.

Now that IS algebra ;)

Nice work dude o7

SYS is definitely curved, ENG & WEP is linear. WEP is apparently 25% per PIP

Normally I would back up my posts with hard data, it's Friday and I'm off out to get drunk. There are a few posts buried somewhere, they discuss this all in detail.

Coriolis assumes 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% which is wrong.

Is it? What I see on the site matches with what 777Driver says, which in turn sounds about right for what we see in game.

If I am wrong about it being wrong, so be it, but it does seem to have pretty good information across the board.

Have never tested it myself so couldn't say for sure. Discussions I've seen in the past have always stated 25% per PIP. considering WEP is just a cooling system, 25% per PIP makes sense.

Wow. Great way to get people to help you with that attitude...!

I need to know the exact difference between 1, 2, 3 and 4 pips.

You NEED to do you?

Thought there would have been an obvious way of working it out (similar to what VonBlade says)... drain your weapons and then time the recharge with 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 pips in WEP...

For WEP, it's 25% recharge speed per full pip.

For SYS, it's 25% recharge speed per full pip, and a curve for additional resists (0-33-50-66% from 0 to 4 pips).

For ENG, it's 25% boost recharge speed per full pip. ENG pips effect on max speed and maneuverability is unique for each ship, so it's hard to calculate correctly.

There was a change to shield boost / pip fairly recently. Can't remember what the result was in terms of shield multiples, but I seem to remember it flattened the curve a bit.

Right, I think that was the result of pulse lasers using energy per shot in the energy per second value messing things up.

Either way I don't trust coriolis on that :p
