Great to be back and i was delighted to see that the Germans enter the wildcard race!

I just need to say one thing- to people, who suffered a real life soviet occupation, having a "communist" faction in the game is appauling. Imagine" " interstellar". Just think about it.
Back to the games politics: I assume its going to be CGs. Are there going to be "negative CGs" as well? We will probably be more interested in going against someone than supporting a faction...

I suffered a real life under soviet occupation and then our own communist party regime (Poland, early 80s) but luckily I have the ability to separate real life from the game. The Winged Hussars are purely Polish faction and 99% of our members were growig up in the same period of time and yet - imagine this - we're in the Border Coalition with Communism Interstellar! Shocking! But we know it's a game, not real life and when you get to meet these guys and talk to them they are a very nice bunch of Commanders who are just having fun in Elite, just like you and me

We have gathered a really awesome group of selfless people haven't we? Originally Frontier wanted us to compete separately but they weren't prepared for the lovefest! They wanted us to fight. Even if we lose, we have great days ahead of us, which is a win.

They've already said earlier in the thread that there aren't going to be opposing CG's Raf.
The only way to oppose a faction is to support another one's CG

Hey Raf, CI was kind enough to dilute their ideology a bit to join with us. Wouldn't you agree this puts them in a different light than you are painting them? I can tell you right now, that it was very hard for me to find allies as loyal as them in this game. Every time I have called on them, they have been there. Its an impressive feat I can strive for myself.
Good luck to all the potential Power candidates. They will have a really tough job to do in the first phase. Once you are the first human Power, for sure some other group will try to make their live as difficult as possible. And as we don't know for sure how the BGS is working 100% and with the open/solo thing, it will be for every group a milestone test how strong they hold together under such pressure. Again - good luck!

So it WILL be private group grindfest. It also means that pvp groups cant affect the story. Pity.

I think we are just about even in the watching each other's backs stakes.
Dont get me wrong. I bet they are cool people and I realize its just a game. Some people seem to be surprised that "communism" is not welcomed, Im trying to explain why. And far as Im concerned we should also have a "space <Removed>" as well- that would be fair.
As for the your coalition, Walt- you got the polish Hussars on your side, that balances things out

Then, if there is any opposition in open, you will hurt your faction. The dillema of "effective or honourable" is the worst thing about the Elite right now.

There do seem to be a small subset of players determined to fall into the trap of viewing us through the prism of the 20th C rather than observing what we stand for in the 34thC. For the most part they seem to people unlike yourselves that have any real life cause for resentment. If you come from a point of view that all people any for of inequality is bad, that slavery is abhorrent and that all people have the right to self-determination, not just those who hold the purse strings, then there are not lot of in game choices of government type. Its possible that the reason that so many "socialist" groups qualified in the top 5 is the likelihood of playing cooperatively themselves and building alliances with similar groups. The way to prosper with the BGS was to forget about making money as an individual and do what was best for your faction/group

We only play in open. That said PvP groups hardly ever manage to affect the story and wouldn't even if every player was forced into open. Its just a distraction. In this case some of the most dedicated PvPers will probably be involved in their own grindfest - quite ironic really.
Same could be said about the national socialism, but its not allowed in the game, is it?
Some people do, my grandfather was sent to Siberia, because he was in anti german resistance.
But enough of this- my point is, that for some people communism is no better than national socialism. We think that both should be banned or allowed, thats it.
Why do you think that? The most interesting stories come from the open, just check the forums or reddit.

Well, I role play Elite and from my Commander's point of view Group and Solo mode don't exist. So yeah, Open it will be, regardless. It's the story not the glory I'm here for
