The Dangerous Games: The Rise to Power!

As a player who's largely ignored PP, I have to say I wholeheartedly support this whole move, and the way it's being done.

Competition and conflict is essential to ensuring a wide range of players - and this is an extension of that. If your group isn't suitable to be selected; never mind: choose someone to support, or take part in the CGs against them all, if you really have to.

Of course, you can also abstain - as many (including myself) already do from PP itself. It's all good.

I think many groups would love this opportunity, but the reality is not all groups can. And it makes sense for those who mobilise the most players right now and who have expanded the most to be on the board.

It's a good thing for the game, and for the community, and I for one will be playing my part within that. Not as Canonn, but as *me* (or RP me, I forget sometimes!).

I encourage as many people as possible to do the same :) o7

You are assuming its thargoids.

Speaking of which, how much have they expanded? Can we vote on putting thargoids as the wildcard for the new power?

Not necessarily assuming that Barnacles are in some way related to Thargoids - just speculating that Thargoids may have taken notice of humanity's reaction to what seems to be an alien species.

They will focus on that, ignoring the fact we kill each others in our own systems to conclude we are hostile just with alíen life.

I'm intrigued by EIC putting themselves forward for this. Are we going to see their resurgence?

I'm also surprised EG dont want in on this. I'd have thought the whole Brennus character creation was to give them a character for powerplay?

Yes, that was the plan. But then we tasted the powerplay. With all the respect for the devs and especially the groups that will fight for the honour- its not worth it, not now. Not with current game mechanics. Dont get me started on this one, I could talk about it for pages :).

And we got another plan.

One of the tough things for this project is that leap out of the shadows.

BGS operations are extremely hard to defend. The attack will always go through. So once a Group has its first couple of expansions they become pretty quiet about what they are up to and where they are doing it.

To become a power is a massive step into the spotlight.

BGS groups with any real ability do it on the quiet. If you are not closely associated with them or haven't done detailed searches, you're going to be surprised by who gets into the starter's list.

For scale: a number of player groups Rule more than 8 systems, and have expanded into more.
But I think most of those groups will decline the nomination. I suspect that the nominees that we see on the starting blocks will have around six expansions.

Obviously the Mercs, but also Communism Interstellar could have a shot in this first round.
While it would be nice to see some more parties on the left, I worry about splitting the Alliance.

I believe Black Omega has 4 or 5 systems their minor faction rules, and they have requested entry into the wild card.
I would have thought the 5 largest PMF would have 20-40 systems..

You might want to help bolstering those factions popularity by... writing their full names :D

Not everybody knows all those dozens of acronyms.

Who in the seven hells are EG and EIC?

I was just going to post a few suggestions to those that were putting their hats in the ring..and thought better of it. Those that fought with Lugh will remember what it means to fight...and win...and what must be done. Many of those that fought against us still do not understand what it takes to be competitive! All I can say is it will be very interesting to see what happens during this competition and the communities ultimate response to it!

I know I will personally be aiding long time friends...and hopefully gaining large chunks of wealth doing so!
