The Dark Wheel faction - some of questions.

Hi Everyone,

As an old school gamer who loved the novella by Robert Holdstock, I've been trying to build a reputation with the Dark Wheel at Jameson Memorial. After somewhere close to 100 missions (possibly more, I haven't really been counting) I'm Allied, but my reputation is still 0%, is this bugged? Another question: is there any advantage to being aliied with them (other than the old school cool factor)? Are there any special missions, y'know like searching for Raxxla, etc? If so, how do I get my reputation up high enough to unlock them?

Anyone know?

No idea, sorry, but what a cool idea. I recently re-read the novella when I found my old original copy of Elite for Spectrum. It brought back fond memories from 30 years ago!

Ah, I was going to post something similar, I'm in the same situation, it's a busy station lots of CMDR's twoing and frowing, wonder if they're doing all the Pilots Federation missions and no Dark Wheel ones.

Either way I'd expect to have seen some movement in the Reputation for the Dark Wheel Faction, but as you've mention they seem stuck at 0%

it doesnt give you anything extra but im allied with them im hoping it does in the future but at the moment just the trade missions pop up


and BTW i am allied with pilots fed and the dark wheel

I suspect the amount of trade and interaction with the PF is pushing down any other faction including the dark wheel.

You are Allied, it's not your reputation that's 0% but the faction's influence in the system.
I suspect its more a nod to the original than anything of significance at this point in time, until FDEV create missions in line with the lore from the original but I think this is way down the priorty list. Missions right now are limited to "get this", "kill X" types.

Who knows, it may form part of an expansion pack one day.

The benefit of being allied (as far as I know anyways)

- They give you a nicer greeting when your docking clearance is approved.
- All ships belonging to the faction are green on scanner (unless you use custom colors)
- All green ships of the allied faction shows all their stats without you needing to scan them (just browse them in your Contacts panel on left hand).
- You get higher reward missions on the bulletin board (e.g. you can get cargo missions to transport high value goods like Platinum, Gold, Silver etc)
- (speculation) The local authorities are faster to respond if you get interdicted during supercruise.
- (speculation) Less likely to get KW and/or Cargo scanned when docking or departing stations.

Thanks for answering my questions everyone. Maybe we should all band to together and do what they did over at Lugh - have The Dark Wheel in charge of Shinrarta Dezhra :)

Don't you have to be asked to join? Plus is it not only for Elite pilots?
