Real World Theme Parks The Difference Between: Amusement & Theme Parks

I wanted to write this in advance to the Alpha of Planet Coaster! Today, I'm going to talk to you about the difference between Amusement and Theme Parks!

Let's first talk about Amusement Parks

Amusement Parks, by definition from Merriam-Webster is,
A place that has many games and rides (such as roller coasters and merry-go-rounds) for entertainment.

This means that Amusement Parks are there soley for the purpose of Entertainment purposes.

Examples of Amusement Parks are as followed.
Kings Island
Cedar Point
Canada's Wonderland
Carowinds
Knott's Berry Farm
All Six Flags parks

Now let's talk about Theme Parks

Theme parks, by definition of Merriam-Webster is,
An amusement park where the rides and attractions are based on a particular theme.

This means that these kinds of Parks are designed with specific themes in mind.

Examples of these parks are really limited, but they do exist.
Disneyland/world
Universal Studios

I hope that clears confusions, and will also help you out with designing your Amusement/Theme Park in Planet Coaster!

I would consider the Efteling a theme park
I would consider that as one of the best themepark in the world.

Wow, Ater centuries of amazing history, it's been downgraded to theme park status? Top marks Merlin!

However, I've been thinking for years that I'd want to put on a parachute and have a go on that giant Trebuchet. That'd be one heck of a ride 

No I just mean, because it is a themed attraction, it is a theme park.

Warwick Castle is a good day out, if you have never been, give it a try, but like Sawer said there are no rides, but there is lot's going on.

Oh gotcha Sawyer. And as Coasterbuff says Warwick Castle is brilliant. It's a castle on steroids and there's so much to see and do. There's so much of our royal history tied up there too.

Holiday World in Santa Clause Indiana, USA is a theme park. They have sections of themed "villages" Christmas, Thanks Giving, Halloween, 4th of July, and Splashin' Safari, which as you guessed it, all safari themed. We have taken my kids there 4 times. Except last spring. We went to Disney World. My kids have yet to go to an amusement park.

Busch Gardens are US Theme Parks. The one in Williamsburg, VA is one of my favorite parks.

And amusement parks who moves around is a "Fare" or "Fun Fare" right? Or can a Fare be permanent aswell?

A fair can indeed be permanent as well - like the Prater in Wien.
