The double click of death.

After 34 years of marriage... my wife frequently pleads...''Oh just go play your game!!!'' ..... Am I just lucky or is my wifey broke? ... do I need a new model?
I went the other way - got her to try the game to see if she enjoyed it (she did, she's a fellow class of '84), then bought her a decent PC. We wing up now.

Maybe I'm a product of my timezone, but open just doesn't seem that dangerous to me.

Mind you last night I was coming back from a war, and noticed that I don't have voting rank with Mahon at the moment, so I headed into Gateway intending to swap out to the T9 to haul some Forts.

And there's this unpledged dude dangerous and clean in a Cobra wandering around the system.
So I line up an interdiction to ask him: 'sup dude?
And he disappears.

I drop in on his low wake and there he is poottling over to some wing of triangle NPCs so I swing around in front him, deploy weapons and open a chat.

"Hi, I notice you are unpledged."
"Hi" [bumps his Cobra into my Krait - drops a ring of shield and 18% of his hull] "Oops sory - not v good at this game"
"I am weapons hot and I need to explain a couple things to you:
"1) This system is the capital of the Alliance . . .

And at this point the little dude got bored and ran off after his NPCs.

And I didn't pull the trigger. And I didn't hit boost.
And I didn't just kill the brat.

I scanned one of the NPCs he was killing and they were "Gateway Organisation" which is a faction I don't like so he's not running missions against the AOS.
So I think he was genuinely clueless and harmless. I'm sure he has no idea how close he came to staring at a rebuy wondering what just happened.

I dunno, if you're nose to nose a ship called the "Cyco Star-Pig" - Weapons Deployed and locked on your powerplant and you just took a 10% hull bleed from scratching yourself on a spike; (That's two plasmas three frags all G5'ed out the wazoo.)

Wouldn't you stop and talk your way out of it?

yeesh kids these days.

Okay, okay. You won. I bought the raider pack for my Krait.
That's a photo straight out of Firefly. Bloody hell.
RP on a Cobra looks like nails bolted onto a salad plate, but this thing is bloody menacing!

My wife can talk as much as she wants while I'm playing ED, no matter how loud she talks I just blank her noise.

Every once in a while (when I know I'm safe) I'll respond with a "did you want something honey!"

When logging in, click the far right of the Continue button - sometimes it clicks through and you can accidentally launch into Open. If you click the right hand end and it clicks through at least it will be on the PG selection and from there you can choose your group or solo. This happened to me a couple of times on DW2 and could have been fatal, but fortunately I realised straightaway and quickly logged back out. That's when I was told about the far-right method. :)

Thanks for that. It was good for a laugh on my end. First time in open since a month after game launch. BOOM LOL

The Raider Pack for the Krait does look pretty cool, but with mine it’s got 5xG5 Hull Reinforcement Plates 3x Module Reinforcements and everything is engineered for strength or cold.

In my personal head canon the Raider Pack is just how it looks after all the mods and back lot engineering.

I was winged with some teammates earlier this week and they said my PvE fighting style is pretty entertaining to watch. I treat the hull like ammo so there’s a lot of ramming and rubbing and scraping and side swiping. Gimballed frags too. So when it all comes together it’s plasmas during a joust, into a full throttle head on ram, unload the frags into their broadside rolling past and then boost ram straight up their tail pipe.

It doesn’t always work. Like often I unload the frags early and they’re not ready during the roll past. Or the head on boost is done late and the tail ram boost isn’t ready.

But when I pull it off, on an NPC Corvette - such a hood feeling.

And our nation's rubbish internet :/

(It's why I despise suggestions of RP-based events like The Hunt/Salome stuff... instancing is pants)
Mate! - move to Darwin. I got fibre to my house and traffic goes out via Singapore. It’s still a longish ping to Cambridge but better than from Bondi.

I use a similar "in your face" style with my full frag Gunship. I always considered her the ED version of the crazy shotgun midget from Borderlands. :)
