The Exploration Plate: an example of how chained mission should be improved across the game roles

This is an example of how chained missions should be improved in Beyond to include all playable roles.


THE EXPLORATION PLATE


Your contact is in the collection business. He has a customer who requires for his collection a golden plate representing the exploration journeys: The Exploration Plate


STEP 1: Pure gold from distant worlds.

Reward:
15,000,000,cr (plus exploration data).

Requirements:
Ship equipped for exploration, Mining Laser and a Refinery module.

The mission requires mining 4 tons of gold in a system at least 1000ly away from current location. The gold can’t be purchased as it needs to come from an undiscovered system outside the bubble and mined directly from asteroids.
4 tons are required for the atomic purification and molding process. The final plate will be 1 kg of unique, pure and rare gold.
Once the 4 tons of gold are extracted bring them back to your contact base.



STEP 2: The Experts

Reward:
5,000,000,cr.

Requirements:
25 Business Class Seats and 40 tons of cargo space

Go to system AAA (200ly away from current location) to pick up a team of Materials Engineers. They will work on the gold purification process.
They will not travel in economy. They are experts on a business trip so business class seats are required and you will have to provide adequate cargo space for their tools and machinery as well.



STEP 3: The gold purification

Reward:
2,000,000,cr.

Requirements:
1 ton cargo space and FSD with +30 LY range

As a final step for the gold purification the Engineers discover a new process to remove the remaining impurity at atomic level. It requires the indirect exposure of the gold to a big neutrons beam.
Take the gold and go to a Neutron Star system. From the neutron star system plot the route to another system that is far at least 120ly.
Travel through the neutron star jet cone overcharging the FSD in order to enable the jump to the planned system. Perform the jump and come back with the purified gold. Only one overcharge is allowed, extra exposure will compromise the gold.




STEP 4: Find the Thief

Reward:
5,000,000,cr.

Requirements:
SRV

One of the engineers steals the gold. It requires scanning of 3 system beacons to triangulate the direction of his escape. Once the 3 scans are complete you have to travel to the target system (far minimum 50 LY). Target system has a planetary outpost that requires scanning of multiple beacons plus the core data center to identify the coordinates of the thief-engineer base. Once the coordinates are found, travel to the planet outpost. The engineer will not be at the planetary outpost (he escaped again already). But there you find a data beacon. Scan the data beacon and you find out that he has already planned to re-sell the gold. Bring the data back to the base to elaborate the information.



STEP 5: Recover the pure gold at all costs!

Reward:
5,000,000,cr.

Requirements:
FSD Interdictor, Hard Points, 1 ton cargo space

The data downloaded from the outpost reported that the target will be in system BBB between hh:mm and hh:mm to exchange the gold for credits. Intercept the thief and recover the gold at all costs!



STEP 6: The delivery of The Exploration Plate.

Reward:
7,000,000,cr.

Requirements:
2 tons of cargo space (the plate is secured in a very tough and advanced protective box) and a SRV.

Plate is molded and forged. You have to deliver it to the customer. He lives on a planet, in an area where landing is not possible (unsuitable terrain).
It requires landing the ship on a planetary base XX km away from his house. Use the SRV to get the golden plate to the customer.
Remember: this is a 2-way trip, plan carefully your journey, be sure you have enough materials to refuel and repair your SRV.
Loss of SRV with The Exploration Plate onboard is not an option.



TOTAL MISSION REWARD: 39,000,000 CR (plus exploration data)
 
Seconded. The game needs more diverse and entertaining mission scenarios. Some of those could be chained.
 
Thirded. Even if these were just handcrafted one time things it would be cool. I wish they had some system in place to just inject a new custom mission every week or two.
 
I'm on board. I'd love to see some longer threaded missions like this. Currently all I see is "oh, you did something for us? Go assassinate a pirate or pick up salvage."
