THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Drat.

Cant find anything... but I did stumble across something very, very rare that I must have found some drunken evening! ((((-:

Cant help you with system maps?

I hate this.

I want to go back there now... only ever found two terraformable landables. One, a moon out in COIYLZ, and this one... A planet with volcanism... One for the next trip.

I'm planning a visit anyway. Do you remember if they were particularly hard to reach?

Isn't Octal 1710 = Decimal 158? Octal 10 = Decimal 8 and Octal 17 = Decimal 15 = 138 = AEH. If you reverse the letters they become HEA, the first three letters of HEART SECTOR ! Maybe a clue ?

Check the whitespaces between the numbers, its not 1710, its 1, 7, 10

I had an epiphany regarding the mythology a few days ago.
Previously, I'd been trying to tie the 'Underworld' references directly to the 'IT' of the Rift, to the thing we're looking for. However, I recently realized that the names of the ships destroyed during Salome's latest disappearance meant that this couldn't be the case.
Only human agents, operating at high levels within the Imperial hierarchy, are capable of arranging for the escort ships' names to be linked to the 'Seven Veils'/Ishtar mythology. These agents, this faction, are supportive of Salome and therefore are supportive of the quest to unlock the Rift mystery.

With that in mind, I believe the mythology should be considered to be referring NOT to the contents of the Rift, but instead, is a mechanism used by this faction to communicate with others, to draw people into the mystery and to allow them to recognize people who are interested in exposing the cover-up.

I think Salome has been accepted into the faction - receiving the bottle of Gerasian Liquor on Sol indicated that (Geras is the Greek god/personification of Old Age) - who subsequently rescued her when the Empire was going to lock her up. The ship names were a message to the outside world, saying "Don't worry, we've got her".

Somewhere in the Bubble (the Core) is a clue, not to the location of the Rift, but to the way to make contact with this hidden group - and that clue is buried in the mythology.

</tinfoil>

Consider Rep+1 for this, i cannot give unfortunately.

*Puts his tinfoil helmet on*

Yeah, i'm having another scan over all of the mythological side of things now. I thought i had something with the Underworld part of it related to the Heart and Soul... Life and Death so close together. And these 'Five rivers' that run in between.

The Entrance to the Underworld relating to what Drew Said "Front and Center" of the Two Nebula's. But all of said "river's" are in the human bubble.

Styx and Lethe are systems.
Charon is a planet in the Sol system
I have seen Acheron somewhere... cant remember though.
No idea about Phlegethon, Cocytus.
And wasn't Oceanus an Imperial ship something to do with Salome?

My brain is fried with only being involved in the mystery for only a week [wacko] taking it all in now is challenging. I'm not getting anywhere yet.

Yeah, I've bashed around the 'entrance to the underworld' concept a few times, and not managed to leverage anything.
I've also tried chasing down Cerberus and other 'guardians' of the underworld.
Interestingly, Geras (Old Age) is one of the entities said to sleep by the entrance to the underworld. I have a feeling that rare goods are going to factor into this somewhere.

Figured out what might be the difference in the witchspace tunnel on the way home. Know what it is?

And I paid special attention to it out in the rift.

The outside of the tunnel spins wildly in the rift. Towards the bubble, its almost rock solid, with just a few perturbations.

Check it yourselves.

Perhaps it's related to distance from Sol.
Have you tried flying 10kLY 'east' and checking it there?

You lost me at Trump-descendants, i was howling my head off reading that for some reason! [haha]

It's all guess work about the old lady though, nobody knows what her motivation's are, i'm not even going to try and guess myself, but i do have a feeling she has dark motivations. I think our main objective is too push on and find this beacon this woman has set up...we are clearly not getting anywhere at the moment. Me personally i think we should move to the Heart and Soul Nebula's, only because she mentions them in her logs, And Drew said on Josh's live stream that they're the "front and center" of the mystery...that has to be a clue doesn't it?

Trying to think of some tinfoil toppings for your tinfoil... i got nothing! I think the void is slowly creeping up on me.. consuming me and my poor Asp. She has gone from white to rusty fast.

I'm still howling! The way you set it at the beginning 'Rich lunatic'.. I haven't laughed that hard in a while.

Yeah, i was more concentrating on slightly west of where the Bases are, going off the layout of the maps on the front page of this thread. But i don't know, i am kind of convinced our next step should be the Nebula's
The logs refer to passing the h&s nebulas, how pretty they are & a desire to explore them, there's no mention of anything in particular in there. Why do you think there is?
Personally I think they're nothing more than a gateway to the dynasty region, of which we've just mapped a tiny portion so far.

Cool, Rift mystery solved. Well done Cmdr.

They did say we would probably not recognise it when we saw it 🙂

I don't, i'm just placing the idea that something might be there. But i see i'm on my own here and the only one pointing towards the h&s nebula's, outnumbered ten fold. Could be anywhere, there are multiple thousand systems in the Rift, i'm just going off what's been given to us. Don't worry about it, i think everyone has split wildly anyway, nobody has the foggiest where to go. And constantly jumping to system's isn't fun anymore.

Fully agree with this. The story is about Kahina. Most of the hints are connected with the development of her character.

The rift is part of this. Not the other way around.

Oh, I know. I was just responding to the suggestions about building an outpost out there now. And exploring in an AspX or Conda? Nah, everyone does that! Here's my explorer heavy fighter in all its glory!

What jump range has it got? ;)

Lol, no worries :D

Just my tuppence to add from last night. I was toying with the idea of heading over to conflux, but I noticed there were many discovered systems between the Rift and the Conflux regions - so I went up.

Heading above the galactic plane, one thing really stands out - those two clusters (galaxies) that sit outside our galaxy, the light blue one and the one that looks a bit like Cthulu, are almost like extra-galactic mirrors of the H + S Nebulae - you can almost superimpose them on each other.

Iv'e taken some screen shots of what I mean, I'll post them when I get back from work. It just piqued my interest.

Also interstingly, I've gone about 800lys up from the EAFOTS beacons, and I'm still in the EAFOTS sector. I haven't come across any discovered systems up here.

The stars are thinning out, and... you can see the whole galaxy just hanging there...
Now that's what I was thinking of! :)
Oh, & that is sort of the directions the 4 beacons line up in too.

P R U * A E S C S * H W - S * B 3 1 - 2 * C D * 1 * c Y S *3 4 * 1 * 35 27 25 19 * 7 17 21 23 1 7 8

The 178 at the end assume the coded message is shifted like the otseaf message but,,,
could this be the missed clue

35 27 25 19 * 7 17 21 23 1 7 8

latitudes bases

h -9 -26 36 51
c -7 xxx xxx ???
r -17 -23 -34 21

a hint to search those latitudes?
51 an outlier or that 178 is off in someway?

longitudes

h 21 -12 103 -155
c -35
r -77 -174 -76 19

doesn't look like any pattern there.

About mythologic stuff: you forgot Tartarus and Aphodel which are systems too. Maybe Elysia for "Les Champs Elysées" which is the best place in the greek hell.

Cocyte and Phlegeton are afffluents of the Styx. maybe it's why they seems not relevant. Or they are not system but celestial bodies.

Sometimes i think if they so many surface stations for engineers, they could have added some special ones.

My apologies, i cannot remember the CMDR name of the person who originally noticed the 'green octopus' structures in the hyperspace tunnel. I believe I dismissed your observation before, and at this time must apologize for that. I'm starting to see those, too. HYPIAE AIM CZ-A D2.

Mild space madness, perhaps. Still.

APB: Pilots should be on the lookout for ships registered as the "Inauris", "Perscelides" or "Armillam". Armed and dangerous. Do not approach or contact but report to nearest Imperial Authority. Last seen in Daibo.
---------------

Only five of the seven veils were destroyed that leaves two, the earrings and bracelets or anklets.
I surmise those are the get away ships.

The second could also be the Manacles, but that's boring and the same in English and Latin.
