THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

If Frontier Support says no to placing me back out in the Rift (which is highly likely), I'm going to work on a hunch I have and grab an Unknown Artefact before heading back out there... might swap over to G5 Dirty Drives from my Clean Drives to see what extra speed I can get. I probably won't go A-rated, because in the sacrifice between thruster strength and jump range, I'm still feeling jump range is more valuable. I just need to be more careful on high-G planets, especially with the lateral thrusters.

My plan is to variously drop and scoop the UA around the Rift and see if anything happens.

Does anyone know if anyone has done this before? Is it worth trying?

Are you in an Asp Ex? I have A rated thrusters with G5 dirty drive tuning. Cruise at 380m/s and boost to 515m/s. My jump range is over 43 LY. Most of my modules are A rated with engineer mods with exception of life support, sensors and shields.

Yup, Asp Explorer. The only A-rated thing I have is the FSD, the rest is D. I have a jump range of 46.7LY. I'm not sure how to bleed more range out of it lol, but I know that changing any of those modules will drop my range down significantly at the moment.

Greetings CMDR von Rhein

I surveyed all EAFOTS CC-P and CP-C systems and did not come across any anomalies or patterns in their makeup.
None of the systems contain terraformable worlds.

EAFOTS CP-C B40-1 is the most interesting as it has 5 stars, a (non-terraformable) water world and 15 other major bodies, plus a host of moons.
The rest of the systems are entirely unremarkable, except for their uniform blandness.
Thanks very much for saving me the journey!
I do still want to visit the Rift again and have been preparing my Python for the journey (I can use the cargo slider to simulate a ~28LY range but still have more if I find I need it): another 2LY on the jump range and she'll be ready to go. I want to find out for myself just how it looks going beyond Eafots and 'take my time plotting a route' to see if it leads me into any systems that stand out. That said, I also have some things I want to do in the bubble, before 2.3 drops if I can, so it might now be a while before I make that journey.

Conflux PRU AESCS NC-M D7-192 A 3 A - more people are declaring help with search - that is great :)

I avoid the dark side, I think it is more difficult to spot in the dark, we have pilots from different time zones, so this will not cause any problems.

I think the day/night cycle differs to that of the earth so timezones should be much less of an issue. Everyone will get daylight everywhere at some point.

Also, I found geysers here:
45.48
159.38

Just randomly looking at the moment as not much time to search, but if in a week or so it has not been found I'll be back from my real life journey and be able to help with your planned search (Or jump on the bigger planet).

There's still a missing beacon in the Conflix too isn't there?

Diadem
ˈdʌɪədɛm/
noun
a jewelled crown or headband worn as a symbol of sovereignty.
synonyms: crown, coronet, tiara, circlet, chaplet, headpiece, headband, fillet, wreath, garland;

archaic
the authority or dignity symbolized by a crown.
noun: the diadem
"he refused the diadem of all the Caesars"

Cypripedium
Cypripedium is a genus of 58 species and nothospecies of hardy orchids; it is one of five genera that together compose the subfamily of lady's slipper orchids (Cypripedioideae). They are widespread across much of the Northern Hemisphere, including most of Europe (one species), Russia, China, Central Asia, Canada the United States, Mexico, and Central America. They are most commonly known as slipper orchids or lady's slipper orchids; other common names include moccasin flower, camel's foot, squirrel foot, steeple cap, Venus' shoes, and whippoorwill shoe. An abbreviation used in trade journals is "Cyp." The word "Cypripedium" is derived from the Late Latin: Cypris, from Ancient Greek: Κυπρις (Kypris), an early reference in Greek myth to Aphrodite, and Greek: pedilon, meaning "sandal".

Velum
/ˈviːləm/
noun
a membrane or membranous structure, typically covering another structure or partly obscuring an opening, in particular:
ANATOMY
the soft palate.
ZOOLOGY
a membrane, typically bordering a cavity, especially in certain molluscs, medusae, and other invertebrates.

Monile
Italian from the Latin meaning:
- Necklace
- Collar
- Jewel

Vestimenta
Spanish for Clothing

So Salomé is dead. I'm pretty sure she'll be back, but as who, I don't know.

I've been carrying a UA and UP around EAFOTS for the last couple of weeks. I also dropped them and they still point to Merope.

Good to know, I was just wondering seeing as how the logs mention artefacts, and Salome mentioned that the Rift mystery and Pleiades events are linked, that a UA could trigger hyperdictions out here.

Evidently not, I'll just focus on my thruster upgrades then lol.

Thanks, hopefully I'm interpreting that correctly as we've managed to narrow down the search zone with the recent co-ordinates.

Ship names - Maybe a crown (diadem) concealed (velum) by a cloak (vestimenta)? Perhaps a signal that the "escort" ships were loyal to Kahina and the ambush was a ruse to cover her extraction?

I'd interpret this as her shedding more veils.

Yeah these five and the two in her ship when she fled the Empire. Seven all in all, so her journey "there" is complete. Now she has to make it back.

In case we're talking past each other, I am thinking of Ishtar's descent to the Underworld, mainly because the garments she's shedding seem to fit. Truthfully I have no idea what any of this means, except I'm pretty sure she'll be back as a changed woman.

Okay so I've narrowed our search even more.

Being able to replicate the long loading Times I was able to test how far the loading effect went. I tested it on the latitude (20,*12* <<< this one) and it went from 12 all the way to 27.5. Because it spawns within 8 degrees which is 1,000km, it has a total range of 2,000km where someone enters it, it renders in (think of a sphere with the settlement in the middle).

Knowing this, I am able to deduce that the settlement is within *,20 to *,21. At the very most, 19 to 22. Haven't figured out the other axis yet but I'm gonna also guess it's close to 20,20.

Can you confirm that you are seeing this at 20 degrees latitude, 12 degrees longitude (both positive)? I always get concerned when both numbers are below 90 degrees since lat/long can get confused. Just want to make sure we are looking in the right place.

Since the top number on the HUD is latitude and the bottom longitude, I interpret 20,12 to be 20 degrees latitude, 12 degrees longitude.

Hi to all CMDRS. My first post here. The clues says that the base is inside the crater. The diadem is in fact a circle, cyripedium is a base (like statue base), velum is something located inside.
Sorry for my bad english.

I hope to rejoin the search soon, I'm heading back to the bubble for repairs. Had a connection hicup and smacked into the ground pretty darn hard, hull dropped to 64% a little too low for comfort with all the data I'm carrying around.

Going with this, 'velum' means 'veil' or a kind of a 'blanket'. Wasn't there a crater with thick fog? Search the fog.

I think it symbolizes her personal development.

- Shedding the diadem -> Breaking with the Empire
- Shedding the veil -> Seeing clearly(the truth)
- Shedding the slippers/shoes -> Leaving the profane. Stepping onto holy ground
- Shedding the clothes -> Showing her true self(or she is starting a new carrier as a RIG model )

If we bring some RL logic into this, these would have to be some really stupid conspirators. :p

Lower the size of modules, not just rating. I have an A rated Asp (mostly with about 47Ly base range (about 51 max) - all A rated (except life support. But all the A rated stuff is small. 2A power, for example... I could get a bit more by going 2D for some stuff, but A rated is better for heat.

Hi there, in my first serious exploration attempt I kitted my trusty old T6 for long range and I made it about 6000 ly towards the rift, so there's more support coming :) Should be there by the weekend, hopefully the party is not over by then. Will be in open, see you then.
