THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

I'm afraid I can't get behind a two word battle-cry. It needs to be three words, like 'Veni, Vedi, Vici' or 'Libertie, Fraternite, Run-away'.
Currently I'm stuck on:

Freedom!
Truth!
Biscuits!

But it won't translate to well into American. (Seriously, if a Yank offers you biscuits DON'T ACCEPT!)

a) you don't have to get behind any battle-cry. That would be following and making me your leader. The last thing I want to be is a leader.
b) 3 word battle-cry is OK too, but I will stick to my two words, because otherwise you would think I'm considering you as a leader.

(And I will keep that advice about biscuits in mind.)

I actually thonk harry potter and sdc did an incredible job of infiltrating pac influencing the whole thing and pulling off an assasination that is worthy of any film. Ive never been a fan of sdc but for this they truly deserve to be written into elite history well done guys!

And big lolz at the "hey guys dont bring guns" approach and everyone that bought it

I don’t think SDC need to infiltrate at all. They walked through an open door & were greeted with a warm welcome. The welcoming party were to busy alienating the rest of the player base, who where willing to see the re-buy screen to hinder & delay the aggressors so Salome could escape. That player group decided pvp elite were the answer. When the independent supporters could have brought to the table the most valuable thing that was needed. TIME!

What's Latin for SPOOOOOOOOON!?

So this is an interesting bit of lore I've just read. Apparently the Thargoids are so called because some people thought they could see the letters THARG on the hull of the first recorded ship (though others thought different and the image was highly magnified and blurry).

So either people seeing something that wasn't there or a ship with human writing on it...

Maybe it's time for THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 5)? Don't think you can separate this one from the events of the day.

I'd really like to hear some theories on what more about the mystery might be learned. If nothing else I'd like to know who to punish in the BGS :S.

Anyone have thoughts on how this story line might effect the future of Colonia? The powers were looking for a place to escape to and now one is established... I think it's just beginning. We all need to start being real suspicious of CG's. I think we've been helping the wrong people.

Clear things we've learned from tonight:
Rebecca was one of the people doing the mind-wiping.
Rebecca suggests that her logs are being "allowed" to be discovered, probably because it's getting too difficult to keep the alien threat invisible to everyone.
Regardless of event outcome, these Logs existed before the event started and were discovered beforehand. Perhaps the characters had othermessages to share, but this is unknown to me.
Rebecca's newest logs are directly to us Formidine Rifters and are essentially confirming a lot of what we already sussed out ourselves. Ultimately useless information for us, maybe not for the average joe who stumbles upon them.

Except there's nothing really pointing to the Rift anymore. Time for a new title. Perhaps something along the lines of the Powers Conspiracy Thread?

That sounds awful in comparison to "Formidine Rift Mystery". We also still have potential leads to follow back in the Rift -- Following the RR line further! There's still the unanswered question; Why did they set about putting beacons around planets where there was definite alien activity, if they were trying to find places they could get away from the aliens.

I'll play:

Raan got through. Raan has new/unknown information about hyperdrive tech.

Corsen said absolutely nothing about any FSD or Hyperdrive tech. Quite disapointing really.

Thargoid is a real word with an actual meaning. I don't think they're so named by coincidence.

Aliens are coming. Aliens leave present ships dead in the water ergo...

New Hyperdrive tech incoming very soon.

Yep. plenty more to be discovered. Also what were they doing with the stolen meta-alloys, who are the conspirators pulling the strings, what/who is coming and how do we defend against it?

I didn't expect this would result in Cor 70 opening up. But I was hoping that the Tionisla cemetery might be revealed, or Lave-2 opened up. Perhaps more would have been revealed today if Salome had reached her Final Destination.

Then we should all have our own unique battlecries, consisting of a random number of GUIDs.
Mine shall be:

ac265892-9f3d-448c-876e-ee7d5ddbe862!
4fab30fc-e1da-4cb5-88b1-872685dacbcf!
49ac0d62-1eb4-4373-9401-27b5640efe5b!

Is that sufficiently non-hierarchical for you? Not that your opinion matters, obviously ;)

Super, an asterism hex code problem... does it come out as 'What. The. censored.'

Meta alloys prevent UP effects right? So shielding fsd's with them might allow us to at least chase them/follow them. Might even allow us to wake scan them too if used on scanners.

It's just speculation though.

:)

An interesting and highly amusing concept.
The confusion those battlecries would inflict upon the enemy is probably devastating.

@everyone crying to Drew because we said your ship will be killed for x, y, z reason isn't going to change anything. If you don't follow the plan we carefully crafted for safety and security purposes, your ship will be blown up. And it will be your own fault. If you want to help, be helpful. Don't be proud and stubborn. That being said, everyone is welcome to join, we're all adults so we can make our own decisions. Just know that you reap the rewards of your decision. If that means a 65 mil cutter rebuy cuz you couldn't swallow your pride, so be it.

the plan we carefully crafted for safety and security purposes

you reap the rewards of your decision

you couldn't swallow your pride

swallow your pride

I hope this chap is feeling good swallowing his pride around now.

...Salomé is dead (feels weird writing that) by her own "bodyguards" who happened to be >>THEE<< most notorious ganker ... why anyone would assign them to this role is BEYOND me. << Cannot emphasize this enough!

That's not correct. I have no idea how the rumor got started that the individual who made the kill was assigned as an escort/bodyguard, but it's not the case. More info and summary is to follow from CoR, but I just wanted to try and stomp out that rumor early on.

You lost the narrative. A good story doesn't have to be true, it just has to feel right.

And that's the problem.

a) I am guilty,
b) it was widely believed before the event, and is still true, as far as can be ascertained, that SDC were a key part of the protection plan.

interesting - have you a link?

Sure! Well a screenshot anyway:

From a Lave tourist beacon as Volimar says:

I think that tidbit of trivia is from the Lave tourist beacon. The "First Thargoid Encounter" one.
