The Formidine Rift - Part 2

Remember guys, Drew is an author, not a mathematician.

I believe there is too much focus on the RR line's accuracy.

"CMDRs may wish to consider the, ahem, core of the problem."

What is a neutron star if not simply the core left behind from a star? We're looking for a system, whether it contains the mystery or the mystery is simply observable from it, the only things we can jump to are systems. Systems designated by their parent star. So the core off the problem: Which star or type? Neutron. Drew is silver-tongued indeed.

Also:
" ... right on, Commander."

The end of the message said to contain the coordinates. Even says the holofac faded leaving only the text. "text" not coordinates or numbers. I've crunched this to binary, octal, base64.. Nothing. DID find a single coordinate in the rift by simply counting their place in the alphabet. Heading there now, but not confident in this guess.

Just saying, stop thinking as mathematicians and think as an author would. His answer is in how he says it more than even what he says: He's a wordsmith.

RO, C. Gives quite decent numbers i Octal:
122 117 054 040 103 056

Use the thee dots as decimal separators and you can get coordinates in the RR direction.

Example with one decimal and removal of leading and trailing zeroes.

-12211.7 +-540.4 -10305.6

Regarding the Galnet stories about the Seven Veils and improvements - It seems like the consensus understanding is that the improvements to the ship were fakes, but that's not how I read it. It seems to me that if "improvements" were done but then on inspection it was found that the ship had fake parts, the implication is that the improved parts were removed from the ship and replaced with fakes, not that the improvements never existed in the first place.

I have no idea if this makes any difference to anyone, but though it was worth noting.

Just so you know, this is what I take from those articles too.

I've tried reproducing her loadout with little success the Guatemalan Discovery Scanner is just a rotating disks and the Peruvian Fuel Scoop is just a chain attached to a big bucket so I'm suspicious the outfitter I bought them from (BIg Jakes Asp-i-rations) overstated their rating a bit.

ahem ...

Maybe another tinfoil moment, or complete brain fart:

Ahem is "used to represent the noise made when clearing the throat, typically to attract attention or express disapproval or embarrassment."

So, what if the 'ahem' is meant to invert the meaning of Drew's comments? (and yes, English is a foreign language to me, so I might miss the nuances of how ahem is used correctly)

CMDRs may wish to consider the, ahem, core of the problem
  • its not the core to look at, but the opposite direction aka look at the core and then watch your six? So more outward

This is an excellent project, keep it up Commanders. As for the Formidine Rift, keep an eye on the Galnet feeds. The truth is... ahem... out there.
Cheers,
Drew.

  • is in there - where, the post this comment refers to?
.
meh, maybe I - ahem - should stop thinking about the rift ...

I think we're in danger of vastly overthinking this. The more I read the more I'm convinced that this has something to do with the Heart Nebula. Lots of Alice in Wonderland references of being late. The rabbit was the herald of the Queen of Hearts. He looks at his watch and realizes that he is late for announcing the Queen of Hearts to the garden. Drew's references to the "nebulous" and "core of the problem", core=heart?. Plus he's faved a couple of posts that mentioned the Heart nebula in them.

I'm currently halfway over the Formidine Bridge, but I'm turning around and heading back to the Heart Nebula to have a poke around.

I have the same thought. I think a lot of people are getting mixed up in trying to find a huge, complex solution when it might just end up being the simplest answer that's correct. Regardless, it's nice that everyone is getting so involved with it. I'm currently about 200LY from the Heart Nebula so I'll be stopping there to investigate for a while before setting off towards the Bovomit sector. I have a theory i'm playing with in my mind but I'm hoping that by the time I get there we have a little more information/story to base it on.

Also, the french word 'coeur' sounds similar to 'core' and means 'heart'.
Coincidence? I think not. :D

Don't forget that both "core" and "coeur" have the letter O, as does the word "soul".

The implications are clear.

Speaking of similarities... Core, coeur, et al, stem pretty much from same source. What if it has nothing to do with germanic languages to begin with... lets see... (Core/kore, finnish - english biased brain will interpret "kore" (k-Oh-r-EH) as "core") - "an embellishment" ...

Has anyone surveyed the black hole in the middle of the Heart Nebula? System HEART SECTOR ZE-A E11 ? Looks pretty much central.

So, I have been listening to the Formidine Rift (you know, the "have you listened to it" clue?). With all my systems turned off, it seems the normal galaxy background noise is different. I think there is morse code in it, but you have to speed it up at least 20 times using software outside of the game to be able to hear it, and depending on how you randomly break and assign the letters you can get different words. I am pretty sure it is telling me the location of Raxxla though. Can anyone confirm? Thanks. :p

Decoding morse isn't my piece of cake (althought I can decode it as well as I can decode english - neither are my native languages anyway). I think you're over-thinking it, but if you find me being wrong in my assesment, I'm more than thrilled to be corrected.

I'm personally still a bit far to hear the Rift myself.

So we have a few obvious candidates for 'Core':

- Sol
- Sag A
- Heart (Nebula)
- Kore (Persephone)

Please add more, I just want an overview.:)
