The Formidine Rift - Part 2

It is beyond the Rift so it is not in the Rift, It must be the Bovomit systems.
Why did Kahina travel to Beagle point, we know Kahina=Drew traveling, so maybe he needed to do this to become elite explorer, that will lift the requires to enter Bovomit.

I think you need about 50kly for 10% from Pioneer towards Elite. That means you need to go to Beagle point at least 4 times to become Elite explorer.

It's utterly depressing. I just returned from a 2x 7kly trip (doing a mix of just honking and detailed scanning main stars and interesting planets) and I got... 3%. Seriously, time to add some fun to the exploration grind.

So, I'm slowly making my way there... and I say slowly because my ADHD makes me go "ooooohh shiny!" every three jumps.

But I mean... come on! Look at this! You can see this beautiful ringed planed, along with the NGC 7822 Nebula, and the Cave and Elephant Trunk nebulas in the distance!

I became 10% pioneer after traveling onetime 15KLY and mine last to the to the formide Rift was 50KLY

On my way from SagA*, I had an thought. Supposedly Imps and Feds know about the "rift" and they keep the data about it in their data banks.

But! We didn't really see or hear anything that would suggest that they went there. By went I meant significant military movement.

So:
A. They are hiding something in the rift. Area 51? (Some one pointed this out already, but I cant recall who.) So what could they be hiding? Rogue AI? Weapons?
B. Its a space anomaly. Wormhole? White Hole? Maybe they old lady crossed it and had a glance at a different universe/galaxy. From witch bad *things* come?
C. Its a Warp Storm (or something like it).

I'm of course hoping for C, because I personally would welcome our new lord and savior Khorne!

P.S. The patch/badge looks really lovely. Hopefully we can actually provision these!

The obvious awnser is A.
It's been told that the location of the 2.1 files are hidden.
You know the are late with that ;)

Ahhh, interesting. So if we find the rift. We get 2.1 sooner!?

On a serious note. I still think it's an anomaly. If anything sentient is there. We probably would have known about it by now.
I hope....

You need to scan stuff, not just jump 'n' honk...

From Pioneer to Elite it is about 1 million Cr worth of data sold per 1%

Just read the OP, and it sounds like fun, riddles & all. Don't have that much time to play these days (Photoshop, u know :D ), but let's say I sign up!

I'm about 1,000ly from where the R-R line crosses the Rift, so feel free to befriend me IG since I don't know who's out there atm.

EDIT : & thank you for the sweet comments! :)

Drew a mission patch for you guys ; waiting comments.

Awesome patch dude... Love it. Only comment is could it (should it?) say "Formadine rifters" ?

Love the 'embrace the madness' bit :D

Has this bit been addressed? The dark systems? Maybe we shouldn't look for a colorful nebula made of ionized gas but look for dark nebula or absorption nebula?
.
Btw, the dark part of or galaxy is called great rift.

Maybe we have to get to the end of the great rift, and take it from there, where ever there might be.
Just a part of it, the line in the center is the Great Rift

The Great Rift and the Milky Way pass through the Summer Triangle and above the Teapot asterism in Sagittarius
btw, great site: earthsky.org

I think you are onto something here. I think Salomé went to Cambridge on Earth to view something in the night sky on the vernal equinox. She kept saying she didn't want to be late - my take on this is she had limited time to do whatever she needed to do in Sol. Something about the arrangement of stars in the night sky only made sense on that day.

We may have the right location for the rift, but what if there is a star, or group of stars, that lineup with the rift on the Equinox?

Also, that line, combined with the "it'll come back to bite them" seems to imply the secret of the Rift is something that humanity, or Imperials in particular, had a hand in shaping. If not directly creating.

Yup. Something worse than the Thargoids!

This is why the INRA topic keeps coming up. Lore base group that did some bad things in the past to defeat the Thargoids. If something was going to "come back to bite them", it could be an organization like this....but there are so few details about where they could be stationed.... http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/INRA

The INRA angle is interesting.

I can't say for sure without reading or listening to the book, but if the old lady is Rebecca Weston then it's probably not "what" she lost but rather "who." The main supporting character of Drew's Oolite saga was Jim Feynman, who had a rather stormy relationship with the heroine, Rebecca Tyley (later Weston.)
---snip---
Frankly, I have no idea if any of this connects with the current mystery, but the character seems to exist in our timeline so the connection may actually be there somehow.

Drew has hinted that the old woman could be Rebecca Tyley on his blog:
"Parallel universes will naturally share a lot in common."

But what about replacing the ship in the patch with a cobra mk3? Since that was the first ship to reach it, that we know of.

Would say its kinda iconic?

The first and only reason is that it's Frontier's copyrighted material - we had a difficulty somewhere with DWE merch because of this. The Elite logo is less 'vulnerable' and i can remove it easily.

Thanks mate :) I'll try 'Rifters' tomorrow, no pb.

If it's "all in the Imperial databanks somewhere", maybe we've jumped the gun, and should look for more clues in populated Imperial space first.

The INRA angle is interesting.
There must be a reason why the AI is banned in E: D universe...
