You can add CMDR Muetdhiver to the rifters :p

After looking at the clues for a week or so, I found a strong lead. (all the clues fit in, plus two more that I did not notice before).
Since it can be a very strong case of space madness, I'll wait a bit before saying more. (as I have been wrong with such enigmas before, as in going to kepler 110 for the GTX stuff)

All I will say for now, is that my exploration anaconda "The Grasshopper Lies Heavy" will depart with all haste to Sol before heading to the black.

And thx to LuckyLuke for the greek mythos stuff.

Pray tell !! I'm actually finding a lot of stuff lining up around Ovid's Metamorphoses. In Ovid's Metamorphoses, there are three people named Cygnus, all of whom are transformed into swans. Cygnus is also one of the constellations that lines up with the 'rift' in the northern sky at the time of the vernal equinox. Exactly what this means I'm not sure... but it seems to be pointing to something. Maybe it simply confirms the location..

Okay, let's play the game "do we suffer from the same case of space madness" XD

here are three clues that I think are significant :

  • greek mythos is key. the visit to the outer gas giant is a clue.
  • the visit in Cambridge was "most enlightening".
  • at ancient greek times, berber were knows as white aethiopians.

And just to complete the circle and make Han Zen's day, who was the Queen of (A)Ethiopia? Cassiopeia.

7 veils: 7 Gas Giants. What is more a veil than that type of atmosphere?

Trip to the outer gas giant.

I think it's beginning to make sense.

43,980,764 systems to scan,
43,980,764 systems.
I scanned this one in just under and hour
43,980,763 systems to scan.

I scanned 2 the other day so probably ought to be 43,980,761.5. I say .5 because I only did some of the planets in one of 'em.

Some thoughts:

1. As folks start making their way through the rift we need to start building a table of potential POIs. Locations of anything "interesting" such as Blackholes, Neutron Stars, Earth-Like Worlds, Ammonia Worlds with Ammonia-based Life. Anything that might deserve a second look. This expedition isn't about making sure you get "first discovery" credit on systems or celestial bodies. It needs to be about cracking the Riddle of the Rift.

2. If we can agree to a "base of operations" where we all sell our exploration data then other Commanders can purchase that data at that base. Could help reduce reduction in effort and also allow Commanders who aren't actively in the Rift audit the system data and see if something might have been missed.

3. So much of what little we know about the Rift exists from sources external to the game itself. Participation in this particular expedition doesn't require anyone to actively be inside the Rift. Cracking the Riddle is just as likely to come from someone following the trail within the official fiction or linking a common thread found on Galnet. It may even be able to be cracked by someone who has never played the game.

Space madness talking:

There are 2 perfect 30/60/90 degree triangles made of "Super Brights" (visible from any galaxy map zoom level) in the rift: One just inside the new galactic arm, centered between the bridge and the far bridge, and another beside it in the middle of the rift, almost making a perfect "M".

Not sure if significant, but interesting nonetheless. Will post screens and system names later, a bit occupied atm.

Okay, I originally wasn't going to do this but I'm always discussing this forum thread with my viewers and trying to decipher anything that can narrow down the leads or options. You don't have to follow me or even watch, but I livestream this game 18+ hours a day, and the last 3 days have been spent on a full-out Rift hunt.

So, seeing as it makes open communication about ideas, theories and POIs easy and fluid, I'm going to share my stream in a spoiler. Feel free to drop by and chat with us about your theories and ours. I usually post my next POI destination in bold text so it helps narrow down "double checking" if someone else is headed to the same system, and I keep a Captain's Log of all of my jumps and scans as well.

So, if you're interested in discussing this over stream, you can find me below:

If you think I'm just advertising, then ignore the spoiler.

*Also, I like the idea of selling cartographics to the same station for easier audits, but I couldn't think of a system to suggest. I'd only advise it not be a rank locked one to make it as open as possible.

If we need a system to sell exploration data, why not Prism? A home system of Senator Kahina.

Bad choice since Kahina left Prism behind and joined the Children of Raxxla... plus since Prism is an Imperial system. We need to sell our data to an independent system so as not to disenfranchise anyone.
