The Formidine Rift - Part 2

Hi, I have two questions, probably stupid, but I feel I missed something or at least, misunderstood because of my English sometimes a little too rough.
Someone said something that would be in french, would it be possible to enlighten me on this?
And someone else mentioned an article. which should appear on GalNet today and could contain information about the rift. Anyone has any information on this?
Or is it space madness, and all these voices are just in my head? [noob]

And I know that some were interested, so I updated my list of neutron stars / black holes / worlds here.

Drew just mentioned in Discord that the anticipated Galnet article did not appear. If it doesn't appear tomorrow he'll hunt it down on Monday.

Since there was some talk of a 'lone wolf' connection a short way back in the thread, I took my Asp out to Alpha Lupi this afternoon. Unfortunately, it really is a lone wolf - there's just the star there, nothing else. I waited around a short while but no signal sources appeared so I returned. On the bright side, I found an Earth-like World and a ringed Ammonia World during the journey (both already tagged but I got my name on a few moons in the system with the Earth-like).
.
I also visited both Columbus and Titan City in Sol this evening. There are many local Galnet articles dating back to October but these seem to be related to either local factions entering a boom state etc. or player-submitted items. I did take on a mission for Federal Congress, that had the eye symbol and didn't give any requirements in Elite rank, but it just turned out to be to collect a package at Barnard's Star and deliver it to Alpha Centauri.
Good luck to everyone out searching the Rift!

So Drew says...
"CMDRs may wish to consider the, ahem, core of the problem."

Whilst GalNet says...
"...Avalon shipyards, which are owned and managed by Persephone station..."

And Wiki says...
In Greek mythology, Persephone, also called Kore or Cora "the maiden"...

Really Drew, really?[SUB][/SUB]

You probably know this, but I dont think its Avalon shipyards, which are owned and managed by Persephone station, its the system Persephone which has a single planet called....

Oh nice!
I knew there was a Persephone system, but I've not explored it so wasn't aware of the planet.

Going full tinfoil now...
Virgil uses 'Formidine' to describe the gateway to hell in Orpheus.
Persephone is goddess of the underworld...

Now, if we get hugely tangential and consider the 'Seven Veils' to be a reference to the Babylonian Ishtar/Inanna myth, then the Babyloian equivalent of Persephone is 'Ereshkigal'. Now there's also a system called Ereshkigal - I think sonebody should swing by...

I visited Ereshkigal some time ago. Didn't notice anything particularly unusual about it...

There is a huge connection here with seven gates, underworld, goddess/queen of underworld, entering the underworld through said gates and so on... but I haven't been able to work a solid lead from it all, besides being a literary device at present.

My feeling is that it ties in with the "depends on who is looking" clue.
I think there is a trigger task/activity somewhere in the Bubble, which makes the Rift 'IT' visible, and the that trigger is tied to the Persephone/Ishtar/Ereshkigal concept.

Persephone (especially in the guise of Kore) is also an agriculture goddess - so maybe we need to sacrifice some grain cannisters around the systems :)

Ahh the space madness is probably mine. I mentioned french ... but it was related to OLD Frontier First Encounter Articles .. not any upcoming Galnet things... :)

Let me preface this by saying that like Ford Prefect, I don't believe a word of it. However...

[tinfoilhat]

If we're talking Orpheus and Eurydice, there's an ELW called Eurydice in Eulexia, some 79LY from Riedquat.

Interestingly, this system was apparently "discovered by the Wagar expedition in 3264", and there's a Coriolis in orbit around Eurydice named "Mad J Wagar's".

Furthermore, while it's not quite on the Reorte-Riedquat line, it's actually pretty darn close.

Looking along the line from Reorte to Riedquat, with the blue marker showing Eulexia...

Oh – one other thing. "Kiri Eulexia" would appear to be the name of a character in another of Drew's books.

Sadly, I didn't find anything out of the ordinary when I docked there (I was only 60LY away, and thought, what the hell?). Still, your results may vary, and unless I've missed something (entirely possible: I've not read back through this thread or its predecessor!) this system seems to have gone unnoticed, apart from a brief mention a year ago.

I submit this for your consideration!

If I had to guess it's a nod to Drew or just coincidence. The date is interesting in that the official Elite Dangerous lore starts in 3265 with the events in Lave Revolution, one year after the presumed Wagar Expedition so my take is there's no official lore that reaches *quite* that far back.

Edit: The system description doesn't match the actual system layout at all so there's one similarity with Prism.

Has anyone plotted out the outer limits of all the "Core" systems? Just curious, I've been thinking lately that when drew said core he meant inside the bubble because core systems are only inside the bubble. If you highlight powerplay factions, "core" systems are only in Felica Winters controlled space. Just something I've noticed.

The hardest part of that would be determining just what the "Core Systems" are. Does it refer to the Old Worlds? The systems inside the Power Play map? Is it even a geographical reference? Maybe "Core Systems" refers to population and tech level? I don't think I've actually seen a definition of what is and isn't a Core System.
