The Formidine Rift - Part 2

That's interesting... FDEV have been hinting at "something happening with Shinrarta Dezhra" for 2.1 ...
Here is the discussion: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=252408

Although some state that it is something that appears when conflict zones end. Never heard of it though and sure might warrant investigation.

Not necessarily Rift related and apparently this is old news. First I've seen it though:

I wonder what other things are out there to be seen? Is this a bug or is it there for a reason?
It's a bug that has been left in. Just like Mitterand Hollow. I hope they never correct things like this...

Sure hope so other wise,,,

If it does what does that say about rifters hopelessly stumble bumming around the Formidine praying to bump into some unknown it when they collectively haven't managed to find a single star system with a known configuration in a single named sector; a system with an actinic star and a red star with an elw in the Wredguia sector. On the face of it looks like it should take a hour or so doesn't it?

I see engineers mentioned in the activity stream with a jun 3 drop date?

Writing mostly to echo,,,

Is the description of Sushil and Hassan's home system in the book matched in the game?

I've been thinking about this ... the description from Reclamation says that the two stars are nicknamed 'niece' and 'nephew' for 'reasons long forgotten'. Maybe if we figured out the reason we'd be closer to finding Hassan's homeworld?

That might be a good idea. I tried searching for those names in the past, but of course nothing came out of it.

But why would you give such nicknames to stars? Is there an event that could spit out such a combination of stars? Or maybe parents and grandparents are neighboring stars that can help locate them? Part of a constellation maybe???

could it be they are - or their old parent is - a runaway star? are there any in that locality?

Or maybe a pair of stars orbiting each other (the one you reach when hyperjump and his "brother") and the two "sons" stars of that "brother star".

Maybe a lot far away to the main star and the "niece" and "nephew" stars maybe are called after a man and a woman from the mythology?

So, "Winter is coming"... we could ban all griefers and PKs to the Rift without coming back to the bubble until after the war, Black Friday paintjob mandatory, of course.

I hope Thargoids will be our Wildlings.

I love this! Instead of "taking the black" it would probably be more "become a child of Raxxla -- patrol duty between two listening posts for the rest of your life"

"Thargoids gather, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until the next rebuy screen. I shall take no walks among my ships, hold no huge gimballed beam lasers, and win no faction reputation. I shall live and die between my two listening posts. I am the FDL in the darkness. I am the watcher on the Poseidal Wall. I am the Prismatic Shield that guards the bubble. I pledge my life and my playtime to the Children of Raxxla, for this playsession, and all playsessions to come."

Cheers, CMDR Heisennberg6626

Scorpius has another name that relates to nieces and nephews too, but I've not got my bearings enough to know if that's possibly in the right direction - if there are any of it's stars in the area they've got to be worth a peek but named stars all probably visited :/

If that includes not seeing women anymore even outside the game then I'm out.

The Scorpius Dark Region lies right on the other side of the bubble. Wredguia is right on the direction of the Formidine Rift. If there is a Scorpius specific star that is not related to the dark region, it better have another name, as in that dark region there are tons of stars with Scorpius in it's name.

Not just mythology, a big young star 10 Mil years old paired with an old Red orbited by a living planet?
There's going to be a complex story how that came about.

Meanwhile, in other news...

Hey all ... finally got a bit of time tomorrow morning to reboot this thread ... I think I've finished writing the new OPs ... Any further feedback or updates can be made directly in the new thread. If anyone has anything they wanted to be included in the new OP, or any particular call outs I might have missed, please let me know :)

Had a chance to look into the googledoc this for the first time morning: this looks amazing and is pulling all the important bits into one place.

Thanks LuckyLuke, great work!

*applause* smashing work, added a bit near the end and things about being late but that's going to help no end.
