The nav beacon is 100x better. Just filter your nav panel to only signal sources and scan the nav beacon. The FSS is a perfect tool to find HGEs.
Yes it's odd that a navigation beacon can translate signal sources.

And since the nav beacon resolves all, why not have the signal sources do the same in the FSS? once you find that frequency, they all resolve if they are the same kind.Having all the signal sources crammed into a tiny part of the spectrum makes no sense. It would be more logical to be able to toggle the spectrum between 'planet' and 'signal', then USS types could be differentiated by their location on the bar.
Edit in case FDev are reading:
Make sure the FSS remembers which mode the spectrum is in so you don't have to toggle it every damn time!
How nav beacon handles signal sources which just appeared? Should I go to main star again to scan the nav beacon? I suspect that could be very time consuming. The nav beacon is 100x better. Just filter your nav panel to only signal sources and scan the nav beacon.

I think it is honestly time for an FSS sub-forum. This topic has been beaten to death and there never will be agreement.
The galaxy map is not too bad in VR. It must be binding issues that you are struggling with. Are you trying to use a mouse in VR with the galaxy map?It will need to get inline behind the galmap. I cannot do anything in there.
Pointless whining if you do not explain what kind of changes you have in mind.no i dont want the ADS back but will we see it revisited anytime soon?
FSS - Finally Stopped Sleeping
Yeah, it gives me nightmares too.
It keeps me up, wanting to see what’s beyond the next jump. But we’ve been here, done this, too many times.
Yeah, but bickering about the FSS is more fun than working, so here we are...
Actually that's a very good point. It will need to get inline behind the galmap. I cannot do anything in there.
No, I use my HOTAS and look at what I want, I can center the reticle but the system/planet that offers information is elsewhere. The galaxy map is not too bad in VR. It must be binding issues that you are struggling with. Are you trying to use a mouse in VR with the galaxy map?
Since they don't necessarily spawn near you, it's a toss up. You don't have to travel back to the star, you can jump out and back in. I don't stick around after the nav beacon scan, if there are HGEs I'll go after them. Once I get them I go elsewhere. I feel the odds of getting enough new ones to matter coupled with the time sink to scan vs just jumping to a new system doesn't justify it. That's my opinion only. That's odd. I don't seem to have that issue. No, I use my HOTAS and look at what I want, I can center the reticle but the system/planet that offers information is elsewhere.
