I use the "Advanced Control Pad" binding with an XB360 controller, then made a few additions/changes based on personal preference. I think it works well.
"Boost" is bound to the left stick when you click it in, none of the ABXY buttons have a primary use and are only used as shift keys to engage other functions with the D-pad or other buttons I've mapped. For example, B + down is my FSD, and B + LB toggles flight assist. But "B" by itself does nothing.
