- The Gladiators Challenge -

During the first four weeks after the launch of Arena (16 February to 15 March), three named accounts beginning with ‘FDEV’ will be playing CQC on an ad hoc, but regular, basis.

If you manage to get in a game with them, and take a screenshot, you will be entered into a prize draw. There will be 5 amazing prizes up for grabs in the draw including...



  • 2 x Premium Elite Dangerous goodie bags, including a cap, a beanie, three faction mugs, signed artworkEvery paint job in the Elite Dangerous store is also up for grabs.
  • 2 x Elite Dangerous: Horizons Season passes.
  • 1 x Every paint job in the Elite Dangerous store!


The draw will be done on March 16.

To be in the chance to win, all you have to do is get into a CQC match with either FDEV Rhino, FDEV Wolf or FDEV Jet, take a screenshot of you playing against them (perhaps the leaderboard at the end of the game), and email the screenshot to community@frontier.co.uk with the subject line ‘CQC Gladiators’. Your email address will be added to the list of entries, and winners will be drawn at random at the end of the four weeks.

So, how can we take screenshots of a game when we waste hours on queue hoping to play a bit and the game never comes?

I would hate to win a Horizons season pass, as I already have it - that's the problem with those types of prizes, the person may already have it. Guess a free Horizons giveaway would be the only thing I could do with it.

The other prizes, however - now you're talking!

Did anyone find any of the devs? I've been playing almost all week in the evenings but didn't catch sight of them. Come to think of it, I'm always getting matched more or less with the same people, after a week of playing I started learning their names.

Am I doing to ever have the chance to get in a game with one of the devs or is matchmaking going to ensure that I don't?

Wait until Tuesday, when the devs are doing Danger Zone. I got plenty of matches last Tuesday, with FDev Rhino.

Life seems to hate you. Any chance you could scrape by on integrated graphics? I could play CQC just fine on a HP Notebook back when I didn't have a proper desktop PC.

Thanks for the thought, but I don't have that option. On the bright side I might get a better GPU which will allow to enjoy planetary textures in all their glory. For the time being I'm stuck testing my components to make sure it's the GPU.

How about I instead send in screenshots of all the end-games I've been in which have not had an FDEV pilot in? I'm beginning to think I should be playing the lottery instead, the odds might be better.

PS - I don't live in UK, so perhaps matchmaking is the problem if it works on comparing internet connection latencies.

Wow, can't believe I was the last person to reply here and that was a month ago! Anyway, I finally got into a game with the FDEV Rhino! Hooray! I have proof here and here! What do I win?
