The great big Odyssey Screenshots thread

What sort of vid card you using? I think at the moment you need something with a lot of Vram to get good planetary textures becuase they have't been optimised.
I am using a Geforce RTX 3060 with 12 vram and terrain settings at Ultra, and I get the same horribad pixelated minecrafty texture "boxes" on planetary approach. Any suggestions welcome.

I gave 16Gb Vram and don't see the same issue, of course there are graphic issues that affect everyone, and some that only affect a certain group of players, that's why when you put in a bug report you specify the details of your system.

Here is a series of images of me approaching a planet from different heights;

As you can see I don't get the same minecrafty blocky effect, I won't say they are perfect because there are still areas where the graphics can be improved a lot, but it is my opinion that the Alpha currently requires a full 16Gb of Vram to handle the unoptimised textures, I can't recall seeing the blocky effect at all since the alpha dropped.

AMD or Nvidia?

What graphics settings are people using to get these nice screenshots? In all mine, the planets are covered in "Minecraft squares":

Ice worlds are in a generally better state than most of these rocky planets. And landing in the morning or evening (i.e. near the day/night terminator line) tends to produce much more pleasing lighting and texture appearance than coming down where the illuminating star is high overhead.

But it's the same even on icy worlds right now. Hopefully this is all just an LOD blending issue:

Ideal for some pleasing abstract shots, less ideal for realistic planets 😂

That does look nasty, I have never seen that. Every now and then I see a few odd stripes on the ground, but that's really bad.
