The great Power Regulator grind - your options

Still think the simplest solution would be the ability to recharge the degraded power regulators at one type of settlement.

lots of settlements have container compartments so why not have one of these that so it can charge the degrades regulators instead and give the degraded regulators a use.
It's mindboggling that this isn't doable. We can farm Power Regs with the usual crappy exploits (which I really don't care to do), so why not just give us the ability to exchange a set amount of degraded regs for full ones Fdev.

I've got a stack of power regulators.

You can get them from most salvage missions that involve a crash site or distress beacon. Just cut panels away and 90% of the time somewhere you'll get a power regulator.

Majority of crashed ships or distress beacon ships have them; I just found one in a crashed nav beacon too.
However if you check most of them are decadent or broken.

I've been going threat level 1 bases, controlled by anarchy factions in anarchy systems. (These are the "bad guys" anyway, they all have bounties on their heads) Easiest of the different ones seem to be agricultural and refining/manufacturing.

Sometimes I go "Rambo" (guns blazing) on the base, while other times I might go in "Solid Snake" style (stealth). Loot the buildings and end up finally at the power building and take the regulator. I've gotten about 40 or so this way already.

Now, all I need is those pesky Suit Schematics... they only seem to be found in a couple of lockers in the OPS section of a CMD building and the lockers of a PWR building.

I still believe in my other post and that this is incredibly poor game design. However, we have to live in the crap FDev gives us, so I too am exploiting anarchy systems. It is simply the easiest way to grind them. I feel sorry for the anarchy bros who are already suffering because of this expansion, this is only going to make it worse because most the people I know are doing this as well. Anarchy systems are gonna take a hit. Blame FDev, not us.

I still find it hilarious that ships have power regulators in them. So why can't I just take the ones from my own ship and buy more in the ship outfitting? I like how fanboys, and even FDev use the reality argument when it suits them, but you can't buy one of the most common items in the entire universe. Also backpacks cost more than ships, so do weapons and suits, you can blow up ships by punching them, and human crash sites are in unexplored systems in mass. Tell me about realism again?

This worked in alpha, maybe still works:

Do “restore power” mission. Complete the objective, then turn around and remove the power regulator on your way out.

“Hey, you said restore power, you didn’t say I had to keep it running”.
Be careful with that! Make sure you disengage the alarms first. I tried it after clearing out an empty settlement and a security dude for the faction that ran the installation showed up and went all aggro on me.

I've got a solid mix of the two (roughly 50/50 split) - considering how many salvage missions I've done, I'd expect a lot more degraded ones.

Not in game for a while, next time I am doing salvage missions I'll keep an eye out each time I find a regulator.

Probably you're right but I am cautious because I've not done too many restore missions since they're bugged. Then again I've not been keeping tally so will get come here once I am in game again, got a bunch more salvage missions to do to get allied.

PS wrong thread I know but it looks like being allied doesn't actually give you better materials for missions, which sucks.

Got two scavenger farming missions last night, each one offering 2 regulators as a reward. First time I see more than one on offer from a mission. Felt like xmas.

I've negotiated an NPC up to 3 once. Still didn't help them :)

I think the best Power Regulator method is to wait until you need to be unfriendly with Sirius - then take a bunch of Restore Power missions and just use the regulators for suit upgrades Did 15 last night and am still Friendly - looks like I need to take more missions from them today 😈

Haha, I did mine, I enjoy the excursions. But yeah, pretty good plan for the engineer unlock, I'll totally use that! Feels like a pain after having to grind that rep for the permit in the first place, but ah...

I’m afraid to negotiate as they always want to give me more credits however no materials. 🤬

But but but...other than the criminal gangs, Sirius are my main employers!

Why would I want to be unfriendly with Sirius?

This bug is fixed. Not available anymore. What a shame. 😂

You'll find out :)

Just go to Tosche station.

Oh wait that's power converters

I'll see myself out
....Lone_star. Someone made a long, peevish report to me, about schwartz sizes I think I wasn't listening, but I've quoted you from this ancient post to distract you - for no reason - but officially as retaliation since I must appear to have done something to get this short, angry person to stop sending communications about it.

Also, we've collected over 68k 'power converters', and they don't appear to be useful in any way. You win this one, Lone_star.

Hands down the easiest place I have gotten power regulators is I found a disabled colony with a colony owned SRV inside it (disabled too i guess) and i just yank the power regulators out of that, loot the base, kill the scavs, then rinse and repeat by jumping into super cruise and then coming back down on the colony again to do it all over. result? All the power regulators i could ever need :) and 0 risk as the only people who are there are the lowly scumbags of the galaxy that are put down with some well placed hits.
