Oh I don't disagree at all, I meant we wouldn't have the stability issues/potential succession crisis if HIM had done it the other way around, that is all.
This is why, for me, Harold still has the strongest claim on the throne.

I ... Just ... Don't ... Care!

You cared enough to post.
Harold Duval is the legitimate heir to the throne, Aisling after him. If the senate confirms that Harold is "not sound of mind' then Aisling could take his place. Other option is to turn the Empire into a Republic.![]()
Harold.
He's a man. He's a Duval.
Addendum: This is in-character and I have to respect what Jeff'd go with. Just thematically women can't have the throne and the Empire proper belongs to the main Duval line. Arissa seems to be acting the most 'modern 21st century' in her behaviour so obviously we'd side with her. But I'm sticking to what my character would think. And for him it's simple. Harold is the rightful heir doesn't matter if he's the best for the Empire, we've had bad Emperors and weak Emperors, but they're a) Male and b) Duval.
Princess Arissa is:
1). The choice of the Emperor as his successor.
2). The only one of this bunch who actually acts like an Emperor ought, anyhow.
Makes the choice pretty clear for me/my Imperial CMDR.
I quite like Torval..
I am not yet sure who should be on the throne and supported. However I am sure that Harold (and Aisling) were behind the assassination plot and not Senator Patreus. Harold was disinherited, despite being originally first in line. That is great motive to bump off Daddy..erm...His Imperial Majesty.
Of course. What's not to like? She is warm and compassionate, loves puppies and has the best interests of everyone at heart... Deep down I mean.
It would be the marriage or lack of that would solidify that, confirming the rules of Primogenture apply to the imperial Throne.
