i found mine under c users username APPDATA (HIDDEN FOLDER) local Frontier Developments Elite Dangerous Options Graphics.

if you cannot see appdata you will need to edit generic folder options to show them

Am an oldy too and gave up i found it all rather confusing all i wanted to alter was the station text color like the guy in the video i linked has his gui is still orange play vid at 41:44 green text and green station on scanner

On the C drive, yes - in Windows 7 you will find a folder called "Users" - in there you will find a folder with your username - in there is a folder called AppData - in there a folder called Local - then Frontier Developments (not with an underline) then it is Elite Dangerous then it is Options then it is Graphics where you will find the file - if the file doesn't exist (it doesn't always), you will have to create it yourself using notepad with the content as shown on the web page http://arkku.com/elite/hud_editor/ . If you use Steam, I have no idea where they store the files.

I have found that the theme "mocha" by user Uncertain to be the most useful. (I wanted a theme that alleviated the blurry HUD text in v1.4 but wasn't too "different") The friends are a sort of teal shade of green that is distinctive but everything else on the scanner looks almost the same, just more "subdued". See if it is of use:

Hello again
i wonder if someone can help me with regard to editing color schemes in elite?
i watched this video on youtube and noticed that the player has green text for his stations video time 41:37 how has he done that.

thanks

I finally got round to looking at the video you were refering to to see if I coulld help.

The colour scheme he is using is the default scheme. The reason that the station name was in green (as was the station image in the HUD lower screen) is because the station was "Friendly" - it only turned green when he "locked on" to it, he just did it quickly.

ah i never noticed that in my game play time they seem to stay orange i guess that is because i am not pledged to anyone.
also thanks for the link above to the mocha theme, that is a sweet looking theme indeed, may have to try to edit the darn file again :)

No I am not pledged either - never took to powerplay. Factions become friendly as you build your reputation with them - when you are friendly with say Federation, the federation-linked minor faction that is in control of a station sees you as friendly too. At least I think it is friendly status, it might be allied status that determines them turning green - one or the other.

If you find the mocha theme useful, consider giving a "rep" to user Uncertain - they came up with it.

i will rep the player for his work, i have just edited my GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml which is located under my username on the c drive (my game is installed on my d drive which has a GraphicsConfiguration file aswell which i have not yet edited.
editing the override file made no difference at all :(

I had read some other people saying this too, I don't know why that should happen. They made the changes in the main GraphicsConfiguration.xml file to get the altered colours. The only difference is that updates can reset that so you have to go back in and change it again. Same thing happens with the network one for verbose logging - different issue, don't let me confuse things, just saying that's why the options files are supposed to be there.

On a related note, can you let me know what resolution your monitor is running at as your yellow text looks much clearer than mine (which is 2560 x 1440)?

Here is a thread about this in the Dangerous Discussions forum, in there you will see what the people with steam version have to say:

Can't change hud colour

Hi Cmdrs, Ive corrupted my Frontier/EdLaunch directory trying to change the hud colour. But I dropped the mod into the wrong folder.
I should've placed it in the EDLaunch-Products-FORC-FDEV-D-1002-Graphics Cfg.
Now I cant get my default Hud colour back. And I didn't save the original.
Any help gratefully received Cmdrs

Thanks Cmdr T'Pau
