The Koenig gathering!!!

I posted a thread asking for such a thing to be created on Earth's Moon in memoriam to him over on the Off-Topic page:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/365342-Moonbase-Alpha-in-memory-of-Martin-Landau

I am not plugging asking for support, just sayin'.

Sir You are more than welcome, and i give you all the credit for the moon base idea, i just want to make a flash gathering with a lot of Eagles in the moon !!!

Please share with any and every one you can :p

If i am feeling better i will try to attent the event,my name on this game was inspired by the famous Commander to be infact i am feeling bad and very sad cause as a person i like as well Martin and among Star Trek etc ,space 1999 was a landmark on my childhood years and on sci fi!You will be not forgotten Martin Landau :(!!

I'm sure many a forum dad (myself included) will remember this little slice of awesome -

Too bad that show never really made it in America, I didn't get to see it :(

We had lousy shows like Buck Rogers and (the original) Battlestar Galactica. But at least we got Dr. Who and The Tomorrow People on PBS, eventually.

Sad to hear that, as "Mondbasis Alpha 1" (that's the german title...) was one of my favourite series during my childhood. I always had a strong relation to Cmdr. Koenig as my surname is likely the same, just the german version with ö ... Sad...

P.S.: I'll never forget those "standard" Eagle crashes, 30° impact angle and bam there flies the eagles head...

Yes but it had an airlock like door, so it was kind of a crash landing escape pod

For me I have fond memories of watching Space 1999 during the 1970's. However the show hasn't aged well lol. Looking back, they played fast and loose with a number of things scientifically. After all they always manged to visit a new planet nearly every week.

Yes but it started our collective fondness for space :p

Sorry that I couldn't make it to the meetup. Out in deep space. Some ' explosion send my planet into deep space and I can't get back!!! :D Anyway, yeah, I'm leaving Colonia. But rest in peace Martin. You really did make a positive impact on my view of sci-fi.

We have to get a station named after Landau.

Sad news indeed. Space 1999 was and still is pretty damn awesome, as were the Eagle ships (a prized position in my childhood).

o7

goes off to watch the intro for its funky music
Such a great intro. It really sets the tone for mystery, scary things, etc. This wasn't the regular cute trouble with tribbles show. Still remember some of the episodes as freaky as heck.

Sorry for not making it yesterday but time difference and being tired was not allowing me to :( shame i missed the event :( You will not be forgotten Martin Landau!
