Actually, the NX-class was smaller than the Akira-class. Pardon my picking of nits.A whole Star Trek series was build around an embiggen'd and inverted starship. Just saying![]()
I wasn't sure but too lazy too google. Thought no one would notice. How naive of meActually, the NX-class was smaller than the Akira-class. Pardon my picking of nits.

On topic, I showed the Krait to a friend who had never played ED before, and he was quick to point out thet the prongs at the front are very reminiscent of the Millennium Falcon. That’s a major plus in my book.
My big pet peeve was the varying number of decks attributed to the Enterprise-E. Picard said that it had 24 decks, but the Master Situation Monitor on the bridge shows 25 decks. Then, on Nemesis, Data kept talking about deck 29. I mean, really? It ended up smaller than the Akira eventually but the original "NX" design "idea" was to literally re-use the Akira design without any modifications whatsoever. That was their original plan but when they were told that they couldn't simply reuse an existing starship design they shamelessly copied all of the main design cues from the Akira instead of making their own unique NX design. Really it was the laziest Star Trek design for a major series ship in the history of Star Trek.
The size of the NX class was also an issue because the NX wasn't scaled properly to the point that it was consistently referred to as a "225 m" long starship when that would give it a ridiculously large saucer section which would have far more than 7 decks. It was in practice much closer to 135-150 m in length based on the interior bridge size and deck height obviously corresponding to a ship which should be nowhere near the 225 m length stated for VFX scaling. This was a common problem with Star Trek scaling for their ships, even on other Star Trek series, and the only series that had consistent scaling for their ships throughout was TNG but even that series was far from perfect. The most notable example here of scaling issues is probably the Defiant which has a frequently quoted "170 m" length despite actually only being 120 m in most of the VFX shots and having a deck height which would only be consistent with a 120 m long ship.
It really does have that Star Wars feel. Even the cockpit itself feels that way. Maybe that’s why I like it so much. The Krait is the first Elite ship which I think would fit right in as a Star Wars ship. That is actually a high degree of praise for the design because Star Wars is consistently viewed as having some of the most "exotic" and "alien" space ship designs which nonetheless also manage to look entirely believable. Much like those Star Wars designs we don't actually care how "useful" it would be for the Krait to have the cockpit mounted on the bottom of the ship or what those "antenna" do on either side of the ship because the overall aesthetic for the ship's design just looks so awesome.
Yeah, I see a little A-Wing in there. Especially from the back.I wasn't sure but too lazy too google. Thought no one would notice. How naive of me
On topic I was chatting with faarken ingame some days ago and we both thought the Krait is looking a bit like an A-Wing.
So it definitely has Star Wars vibes.
And upside down it doesn't look worse at all.

If only it had the powerful acceleration and explosive boost of a viper. PLEASE, FDEV- GIVE ME A MEDIUM SHIP THAT ISN'T DRIFTY

The thing can't even stay on the rail at 4 pips to eng, perfectly in the blue zone. Try and fly in a circle at max pitch in those perfect conditions- it blows out the turn. Poor acceleration. The Krait actually has rather minimal drift for its size and speed and excellent acceleration. What drift I do experience when flying the Krait is only really significant when I am trying to do an Immelmann turn, i.e., 180 degree change in direction. In those cases I definitely notice some drift at the apex of that maneuver but it's easily corrected as soon as I accelerate in the other direction and can be negated almost entirely by hitting boost as soon as you reach the apex.
