The Krait's Wireframe Model from the Thargoid Sensor

After dropping into several NHSS 6 only to find a Thargoid Sensor, I figured "why not take a moment to do a little science?" For all you Krait fanboys and TS aficionados, here's what the Krait's wireframe model looks like as given by the Thargoid Sensor. Enjoy =)

I don't get it. How did you end up with this drawing ?
Could you explain the process please ? (or maybe just give a link to somewhere where it's explained)

I'd completely forgotten that they did that, great to see that FDEV haven't forgotten it (although maybe it's an automatic feature related to the holo display of the ship).

When you come within 1km of a Thargoid Sensor, it scans your ship and immediately begins to emit an audio stream that consists of "wails" followed by three packets of morse code. It continues to emit these packets of morse code continuously. The pattern repeats itself every 12 minutes or so, depending on the ship.

We usually capture the audio with a piece of software, such as audacity, then we look at the spectrogram and listen to the audio to decode it.

A while back Canonneers figured out that each packet describes a triangle in the grid shown in the image above. A collection of these triangles describes the image of the ship.

Here's a quick guide on what to look for in the TS audio:

Thx for the clarification.

I've found this. Seems to explain most of it, if not all of it.

So, if I get it right, each packet is the morse code for a sequence of 6 letters. Must have been something, to figure that out, and then that each sequence of 6 letters was representing a triangle.

Yeah, that was quite something. It was before my time, but boy I can only imagine how awesome it must've been to figure that out.

What would be even more awesome is if our ships computers were fitted with spectrogram and other deciphering capabilities. So something like this could add to the depth and enjoyment of the game.

Flimley

Oh, I hear ya. They could totally add a basic audio analyzer without trivializing the experience. It would be convenient and open up this type of gameplay to more people. For example, something that can let us form a spectrogram, but it would be up to us to decode and translate what we see.
