The Limit Theory Thread

It's nice to be able to communicate with people across similar games especially now with so many titles being in development, and i just realized, by reading the last couple of posts here, that we appear to have a member of the LT-team here. Hello! :) While thinking about it, i'd actually and absolutely love a platform where everyone who loves sci-fi space sims could come together to talk and philosophise.

Furthermore, i've been watching Limit Theory for a while now and i wonder if it's still possible to pledge for the game? As far as i've seen the pledge phase ended with the end of the kickstarter period and i'm worried LT will be drowned by the weight of Elite and SC. From your description, Verne, it seems that Josh is hard at work. Tell him that people are watching in awe and are hoping for the best, and that he also should - most importantly - take care of himself.

To further the friendship of all spacemen i suggest you visit one of the countless Freelancer bars to have a beer or two... ;)

Hello Kleinholz, thank you for your kind words regarding Josh and Limit Theory. I will convey your best wishes to him. He is indeed hard at work and is well aware of the interest many are showing in his project. Have no fear he is taking care of himself.

I am sorry to inform you that no further funding is required for the project and Josh will not be taking further pledges but you are more than welcome to join the LT forums if you so desire. It is not necessary for you to have backed LT financially. There are many there who give their support to the project by posting their ideas and suggestions. We tend to be a friendly community very similar in nature to the members here.

I love the link. Josh and I are fans of the Freelancer soundtrack and with the introduction of Francois Jolin as the professional composer on the project he is hoping to give LT the same kind of atmosphere.

You are probably aware that Josh is a also a member of the Elite Dangerous community but like myself has little time to visit here. I realize it is not easy to find the time to contribute to many forums when your time is limited. Which is why this thread is an excellent idea.

Cheers! :)

Ha-Ha! Yes Styggron, I know Josh.

The logs may be public but the work done by the Elder Council is not. We have our own forum where our discussions take place and voting on important issues is carried out. Input from the general members is "filtered" to see what would be useful in the development of the game. We get to say what we want to say and if required a vote is taken on specific issues. As there are only seven Elders plus Mr Parnell as the group leader we are dependent on quality ideas and suggestions from the general members. They have proved time and again to be a knowledgeable source of material.

The Elders tend to stay away from the areas of the general forum where discussions and suggestions directly related to Limit Theory are taking place but we freely discuss other games and off-topic subjects with the rest of the membership.

I suppose Josh would describe me as the awkward or challenging member.

Goodness you must have pledged through the roof to be at that tier.
Yep $1000+ goodness you're Mr/Ms Money bags to afford that Verne.

I thought it was a bargain actually Styggron. Especially when you consider what Josh was offering for that level of support. If I remember rightly there was a $2000 tier but Josh withdrew it because he thought he had overpriced it. I might embarrass him if I said how much I respect him, so I won't. :D

I am afraid to say that money which had been allocated to be spent on backing Elite Dangerous was ultimately spent on Limit Theory. You can blame whoever on the ED KS enticed us to go and look at "the kids" KS for that. I was so impressed by that "kid" I decided to back him there and then for a more modest amount than the $1000+. The ED KS was so dire at that stage that I found I was spending more and more of my time over on the LT KS. Unlike FD's effort Josh was there answering everybody individually and promptly. There were videos, screenshots and badges galore. If it hadn't been for stalwarts like Eric and Lars etc. I would have died of boredom on the ED site. It was the Elite community that kept me going in spite of FD. I think Eric is Tinman here but I have no idea what happened to Lars. I also ought to give the "Monster Munch" crowd a round of applause for their incredible and ridiculous banter. Also poor Boz who recently had me laughing uncontrollably with his book update. I hope he makes it to the finish line.

Fortunately the ED KS did improve as it went on.

I seem to have got lost in reminiscing there Styggron. So definitely not Mr Moneybags (that would be Liqua ha-ha, only kidding sir) just someone who is passionate about space sims.:D

Sorry Verne, at that level, relatively speaking you ARE one of the Mr Money bags. :)

I agree the opportunity is fantastic but $1000 is a LOT of money...well...at least for me it is. :)

I too have GREAT respect for Josh, I was one of the very first backers in the first 10 or so I believe. Here on ED I was in the first 20.

I also wonder where Lars went...and yes, I'm Tinman. Glad we could help hold the spirits up. :)

Wow 1000 $ is a lot of money for all average people ;)

Hello Eric..er...Tinman. I hope you are still putting that tinfoil hat to good use. Can you still detect a lurking DB with those powers of yours? :D I remember I was convinced that you never slept because you always seemed to be up and about whatever time I visited the KS site. It is a shame about Lars, you made a great team. :)

Ha-Ha! The last time I checked I was pretty average Izzy. At least Josh shows his gratitude for the backing we provided. Some of the KS projects I have supported seem to turn into "ghost towns" once the project has funded, with very little in the way of feedback from the project leader. That does annoy me.

Well, I did managed to predict the latest peek of the week... ;)

Sleep is a luxury you don't really have access to with three kids at the age of 4 and below. :p

I think Lars just needs a longer time to charge up again after the KS. I didn't really start posting here until this summer because I needed a break. Lars had way more comments on KS though. ;) So maybe we'll see him around Alpha? :)

Unfortunately all are not like Josh or FD or RSI ;)
It is a really big investissement as you are average :)
Fortunately LT is a really good project :D

Nice to see another fellow LT-er in here too, Verne. Sorry for not replying to your last post to me after like what, 5 months? :D As you can see from my post count I am not very active here, unfortunately. Just another silent backer on the forums. I only know you're part of the EC so I am assuming you're VT on the LT forums? :D

Now, if I knew ahead of time how dedicated Josh is going to be to LT I would have raised my pledge and joined the EC as well. I'd love to be part of the EC, I wonder what juicy information they've been given to decide upon. :p Unfortunately I've seen too many KS projects that either went dead silent or just brushes off the backers as just another annoyance to deal with so by the time I saw LT I was weary. Sorry Josh! :(

Lars is on the forum, he just doesn't post a lot his user name is Lortsamler and he was active yesterday but as I say han't posted for a while. Great guy and instrumental in helping ED cross the line.

Soon be time for another dev video from Josh. As always really looking forward to it, time is marching on for Josh as it is for Frontier so it's always good to see what progress has been made. At the risk of sounding like a broken record the dev logs are a great read over at Limit Theory, clear and concise way of keeping in touch with what Josh is up to.

Yes it's me TanC. The lack of an avatar is a bit of a giveaway and the laughing. Actually, I was surprised to see you here those 5 months ago. I should have known you wouldn't have missed backing Elite Dangerous.

I try to come here fairly regularly. I know many of the names from the ED KS days and have seen a few projects cross the finish line with some of them.

Now you know I would tell you if I could. I know you would have enjoyed being on the EC. It's fairly quiet for us at the moment but Josh is really busy. I managed to contact him earlier on and he treated the Council to some excellent WIP. Matthew and I spent a while chatting about it and we reckon it will be a fine addition to the game.

How's that for being vague.:D

Thanks for that Philip. I have nothing but respect for Lars.:)

I think you will enjoy this update. BTW I saw you on the LT forums earlier going straight for the Dev Logs and then gone. We don't bite on LT you know. :p

That's right...should have remembered that...he is on my friends list after all!:p

Ha ha yes I sneaked a look over a cup of coffee this morning when I should have been working. Keep meaning to spend more time on the LT forums but I keep getting drawn into the ED forums. I'll try and have a longer look tomorrow promise! And yes I agree Lars is a great guy, it was him that pointed me in the direction of Limit Theory in the first place, so I owe him a big thanks.

You used to be the font of all knowledge Tinman and look what you are reduced to. Can't even remember your friends user name. That's really sad.:)

The young ones are obviously destroying a once promising mind.:D

I'm sorry but...who's Lars?

The October report is upon us! Soon we will be treated to visual update on LT's progress and I can definitely say I am looking forward to it. :)

And yes, Philip Coutts, many have tried to post in the LT Forums and all have been absorbed into our collective thoughts! :D
