The Malayan tapir got the short end of the stick

So obviously Frontier was going to make this species from the Baird's tapir, it's perfectly logical

However, from cursory examinations to really dissecting the beast, it's clear to see that our boy was done quick and dirty

There are no differences in the model which is inaccurate to the Malayan tapir. And not just in-game. People who've looked at the model in 3D programs have also noticed that aside from the colors, every little detail that the Baird's tapir had was carried over, even a mole it had

The SEA pack is great and the Malayan tapir is a welcome addition but I think it could have been better, especially when Frontier remade the binturong

Only saw it on Screenshots so far but it really seems like they just put a different Texture on the 3D Model. The funny Part about it is that it seems like the Malayan Tapir Sign is accurate. Would really like it if they would make the Body more realistic so it looks less like a Hybrid (now I need to google if there are known Tapir Hybrids )

Yeah I hope this becomes a bigger deal. It's an incredibly disappointing realisation. I still haven't bought the SEA Pack yet and I'm kind of hesitant to because of this; what they did to the Malayan tapir is basically how they created the Zoo Tycoon 2013 animals.

It's gonna get deleted asap but it shows how you can being the Malayan tapir up to standards with some relatively minute tweaks. Especially since Frontier has more resources than most modders

Check replies. They were told to use malayan tapir instead of baird because they are new and to promote them. Atleast it is what they said.

I’m not here to say the Malayan tapir and Baird’s tapir aren’t the same model. But I know a lot of people think the Malayan tapir has a wider snout which isn’t always true.

You can even see the Baird’s tapir is actually the same way.

Anyway these two tapir look very close anyway. Close enough to cut corners and save some time? From a fan perspective no but from a business perspective yes which is exactly the reason I wanted frontier to personally go with this guy

The Brazilian tapir. Looks very unique to the other 3 tapir species plus almost prehistoric in a way. Imo the best choice. Anyway the Malayan tapir has become my more popular preference to use in my zoos and I’m happy we got it.

Then I just find it very odd they didn't just made it a ''Bread tapirs'' challenge, instead of going with a specific species of tapir that isn't the one they want to promote.

Sorry for the sarcasm but this really needs to be addressed, both the strange colouring and the inaccurate model.

Frontier is an incredibly stubborn company. They'll address some issues but then completely ignore similar ones for seemingly arbitrary reasons. This is far easier to fix than the Dhole (imo), yet it's been ignored. Or the fact that I've been asking for jaguars to get the desert tag added, since last August, (and provided plenty of scientific research showing why that's accurate), yet that has been ignored, but other suggestions that I myself have provided, such as adding taiga to giant pandas and Formosan black bears, have been addressed. Even when both of those suggestions came from the exact same post. It can be maddening.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do fix. I equally wouldn't be surprised if they never do.

At least it is possible to keep Jaguars and Pronghorns in a Desert Environment and still have happy Animals. But they should really add it to both of those Species

I think if I should keep them in my current Zoo, I'll only keep a female and a male will be sometimes transported to the Zoo for breeding. Just don't know if the juvenile Bears need the same Amount of Space as a adult Bear which would mean, I would still need to build a Enclosure that is way too big. Why can't they just use AZA or EAZA Data?
