The max range on certain weapons need to be changed

the max range of some weapons are still broken anyway. i reported this to frontier several times where the QA team unfortunately investigated the wrong weapons only to tell me everything was working as intended. My 8 km long range multi cannon turrets for example stop fire at 3,9 km...

That's because for some obscure reason, turrets only start firing on their own at half the stated range.

I'm totally against higher ranges, because as Rubber and others said, it will be even more point&click with the current microgimbal effect.

I often heard that assumption but I still can not imagine why we are enabled to waste time and recourced to grind for upgrades that do not work at all.

But they do work:
- your multicannon turrets will now waste ammo failing to hit a target at 4km rather than waste ammo failing to hit it at 2km without the upgrade - the operating range is still doubled, and if you set them to forward-fire only they'll probably let you miss at 8km too.
- at closer ranges, your shots will travel faster and not suffer from damage drop-off

Yes, there are plenty of engineering blueprints with minimal use (system focused power distributor, shielded wake scanner, kinetic-resistant shield generators, etc) but that's probably not fixable in some cases.

I completely get the "but is it realistic" argument but, on the other hand, I like it the way it is because the alternative would be, well, boring.

It's pretty much the reason I cooled off on the modern combat flight sims. Not because there was anything wrong with them realism-wise, but because I was bored off of my skull firing a missile from 50 miles away and hoping that the enemy was too busy to fire his countermeasures in time. By the way, OP, if you want realistic missiles, then we'll need realistic countermeasures too, won't we? Which would seem to nullify the whole thing.

Just my opinion.
