I flew the F63 Condor last night, yes the panels are quite high. Not a problem for me as I don't use the auto-popup, and they're not difficult to use anyway.
Is it the same for the Imperial Fighter and the other one (its name escapes me, the bigger one lol)?

If they were dropped down slightly, they might clip with the sides of the cockpit, and might need to be brought in a couple of inches. This might sound simple, BUT it may cause issues with vergence in 3D when you look at it - the panels may end up a little too close to the HMD viewpoint camera. This would possibly lead to some getting a bit of eye strain.

Lots of maybes. I still think its worth telling FD about it though. Did it not get reported in the Beta?

This week I think they have more urgent problems to handle, but next week I'll put up a new bug report regarding the SRV/Fighter/Eagle menus.

I still hope for a "activate focus when looking at it"-toggle key, there is even a button (UI-whatever) for it, you can either cycle through the menus (very uncomfortable in combat) or use it together with UI-up/down/left/right to focus the menus (which doesn't really work out well for me either, but pressing it without a direction at least hides the menus while it is hold - I'd just prefer that it would toggle between showing and not showing

Ha! Was in my SRV last night and was sure the left and right menus were a lot higher then before. Thought I was going nuts.

Thanks for the literal sanity check. :D

I toggle my panels on and off with a hat on my joystick. You can get that behaviour. I'm at work and can't check which UI options I have... must be something set to UI toggle etc or something like that.

I turn the auto-popup feature off. My joystick hat left button turns the left panel on and off, right button on that hat controls the right panel. Up on the hat cycles through the panels (left/comms/role/right in that order). Down cycles my weapon group.

Another hat navigates the panel ui, pinky flipper cycles the panel tabs, and fire to select.

I can leave a panel up, switch it off, ask for docking without looking and far faster than Voice Attack.

i really dont like the "solution" -> turn it off... I would perfer FD fixed it so i didnt have to. Same deal with the fighters!

The general advise on thoes forums seems to be whenever a occurs problem -> " dont do it / turn it off " and isnt a solution in my book im sorry :)

Yes they did move them and [deity] only knows why. Now they are a massive pita, as yet again you cannot see out of the side windows. IMHO in an ideal world the bottom edge of the menus should be only a couple of inches above the commanders fore arm.

I like them as they are now and switch them off when I don't need them with the flick of a switch on my HOTAS.

You need to grasp the fact that it isn't all about you and your preferences.

In the SRV, the fighters and some of the smaller ships like the condor and Sidey, the panels can't be moved much further back than a couple of inches (away from your viewpoint as the pilot).
They would clip/intersect with the cockpit and that would look pretty bad.

It'd also make the text harder to read than it already is in VR.

Many of us in VR switch the panel auto popup feature off because its a pain when they popup. In VR, you're generally looking about a LOT more than you do in 2D :)

Nobody's saying you have to turn it off, but that's how BigDuke6ixx and I get around the problem.

I think you need to understand that your opinion is the minority here.
im by no means the only one that feels that the current state is broken!

You have no proof whatsoever that your opinion is the majority one.

Personally I don't see it as a problem. I turn the panels on and off as needed, so what is the problem?

I could also poke my eyes out with a fork! that woud fix both the menu problem and keeping me from reading your useless comments.
