Sometimes you need to dock FAST in Open.
So I had was asked to grab some commodities for the most noblest of organizations. No problem, my little Cobra mk3 can carry a whoppin' 32t so I'm on the case. The ship is multi-role outfitted, with the utilities filled with a Xeno Scanner and anti-disabling field module, in case I run into Thargoids.
I did not.
Instead, I ran into a fancy Cutter with rails and gimballed lasers, flown by a gentleman with a known taste for SRVs at ruins.
My 100 MJ shields didn't last. So either I cancel the mission, I go to Solo, or I try again. I chose the latter. He was there again, and on my way to the station I opened comms. He dropped out, hoping I would think he'd be gone. He returned. He dropped out again at Obsidian Orbital, and then returned again. When he returned, I dropped out myself. Dropping out took a stupidly long time, and then this happened:

Afterwards we had some banter, no harm no foul (although he did seem somewhat unhappy when I suggested fixed weapons to him
). Cheers to him for getting the first kill, and I am kinda pleased with how the second run-in went.
tl;dr Open can be fun, and you dont need super expensive ships for it.
