The new Elite Dangerous: Odyssey update

So I'm one of the people who's gotten the game for free on Epic Games when it was free. My question being, is the Elite dangerous odyssey a seperate DLC I need to buy? Or is it just an update I need to wait for?

It’s a paid update. The complainers will tell you to wait until it’s on sale.

Awh, that's a shame. I was hoping we'll all get the update for free, since I had no intentions of spending money on the game, but it's whatever.

To the OP: this means you will get the new planetary tech in 6 months in Horizons (for free), but this won't include the walking around bit (you need to pay for Odyssey if you want walking).

Ah I see. Thanks for clearing it up, a shame because I really like the game, but kinda short on money atm.

Horizons is a great game no need to jump into Odyssey till some things get sorted out.
I have over 3000 hours in Elite Horizons version and got Odyssey but so far will play in Horizons till game performance and the UI's get fixed.
So enjoy Elite Dangerous Horizons as being a new player you have a lot to do and experience.

I'll keep that in mind, although I DO want to experience Odyssey one day. Unfortunate that it won't be free at some point.

The Epic games launcher is hot garbage..... wait for steam to put the base game on sale for like 5 bucks or something. That'll be a better time to pick up odyssey anyways
