The new FSD Overcharge is a very nice addition, can we talk about Carrier Jump time now? :P

As per title, the new overcharged FSD is a nice addition to the game! I can finally spare some boredom on the long travels in the system. I also noticed that in VR the carrier jump sequence is now in full VR when you watch it on the space legs. That's pretty cool, thanks for this!

I think the next time/boredom improvement should focus on the carriers jump time (cooling and preparation).
Something like 5 minutes in total? Or is there still someone that is concerned that you could reach beagle point in 1 hour instead of 1 months?

One idea I've had along those lines that wouldn't require extra server resources would be to add a new carrier module that's a hyperspace slingshot where the carrier supercharges your FSD like a neutron star for the first jump so you can get anywhere in a bubble in 1 jump in almost any ship but getting back could be a hassle adventure.

They reduced it by a considerable margin at release. I can't recall I think it was originally an hour or 2.
Big outcry on the forums and it went down to 15 mins.
Doubt they'll reduce it further.
But that was during the beta!

Apart from that: Really? Again? Carrier jump times have beeen discussed to death.
Supercruise time was also another hot topic discussed to death. And in fact now they did something.
So what's the point of not talking about it?

I think its fine as it is, many of us don't want to see exploration trivialised.

I would be happy if Frontier simply added a route plotter and auto jump feature on the Carrier that ran until your fuel tank was empty. Since we do not manually pilot the carrier, but instead pay people to jump it for us, they should be able to put in a bit more work, I think.

Been discussed a lot this.......the same points come up again and again. Carrier jump times are not controlled by magic, there is a certain process that must be undertaken and that takes time. FDEV have stated they can't reduce it any further, in fact during busy periods the carrier jump times have extended out to nearly an hour so surely this gives an indication that they are pushing the capability of the system already.

Because supercruise time is a game mechanic for which the numbers can be tweaked easily enough.
FC jumping is a performance limitation. You don't just scribble out the network bandwidth on a pipe or the speed of a processor and write something else on it.

Yeah it's sort of like saying in a regular RPG, well you made the horses run faster, now it's time to make dungeons load faster into memory, one is a software tweak, the other is a hardware limitation, don't get how people don't understand this!

As handy as carriers are (and I'm certainly a fan of increased functionality)
Given the SCO-FSD is now a thing - I think it would be more productive to focus on 'different flavors' of ship mounted FSD's.
