I told you, quality of life. Creature comforts. Simplifying the process keeps people enjoying the game longer because they spend more time playing the game and less time trying to make the game enjoyable.

And you're still assuming that guilds will have a negative impact on the game without any justification for that opinion.

And the pro guild sheep have been herded into the 'it's all already there' cul-de-sac once again only for one to shoot off through a dark alleyway somewhere....

Until the pro-guild movement can get their act together and define exactly what they want to see introduced, how it benefits all players, and how Elite benefits from the introduction - I have no need to justify anything whatsoever.

No, you're just assuming that that wasn't the justification all along. More elaborate methods of describing it may have been used, but I'm not here to complicate the discussion.

Then you also have no need to bring down the quality of the conversation with useless, fearmongering comments born out of your own unwillingness to contribute to anything productive.

Nope, again I never said that ED should be dangerous because it's written on the box. Just commented on Braben's very own angsoc way of saying things. You're fighting with windmills here.

Ah!

I think we're talking past each other here.

I thought you were referring to me originally. This seems not to be the case.

And you thought I implied you used the "name thing". That was also not the case.

Forums. Wonderful things. :)

This really is my last post in this thread for a bit. 07

On the contrary - I care very much, which is why I am here arguing against the introduction of guilds in anything but a considered and balanced way.

Not a single one of your previous comments shows any attempt to make sure that they're introduced in a considerate and balanced manner. Your only opinions this entire time has been "No." "Never." and "Not in my Game." If you expect to hear anything about how and with what features people would like to see guilds implemented with then you have to ENGAGE them in conversation to begin with, instead of immediately shutting out any attempts at communication.

I'm happy with the status quo. My opinions don't matter - it's the Elite devs you have to persuade :) seeing as David Braben doesn't appear to want to have guilds in his game, you will have to be very persuasive.

Of course, they might appear at some point - nobody knows, especially not me.

So what is your main beef with this feature?

My justification for it is simple. All my friends, who had ED, stopped playing it. I want some quality co-op, PvP or Pve, doesn't matter. What should I do to get that with in game means? Beg for it in the chat inside one of the many instances inside one of the many star systems?
I want to share experiences and sweet sweet loot(WIP) with my compatriots. Wear the patch of our space motorcycle club on my end game cobra.

What are you personally afraid of? Bad boys coming after you? They already can.

Bad boys coming after you en masse? Not going to happen anyway, thanks to shoddy p2p system.

So, what is it?

That pre-supposes that they *will* be introduced - that's by no means a certainty.

As to which features people would like to see introduced, "none" is as valid an answer as any of the others....

minimal requirements (enough to satisfy me):

- Ability to recruit players under one masthead, and ability to bestow recruiting privaleges onto others
- ability to allow visual / radar identification of guild mates and guild affiliations
- guild-wide text chat

edit: (since these apparently weren't self-evident)

+ be persistent
+ exist in Open

As with most people, I have nothing to be afraid of in a video game. The only thing I ever stand to lose is the time playing them, and it's my choice to spend that time playing games instead of going out or riding my motorcycle or whatever. I disagree with motorcycle guilds too - they lead to real life pew-pew and territorial control, of the non-harmless pixel kind.

Yeah, David keeps saying it, but as mentioned, PowerPlay mimics guild-like functions, CG's mimic guild-like functions, Galnet mimics guild-like functions, etc... and we have more on the way. So either David needs to be updated on what the definition of a guild is like most of the naysayers in this thread or the Dev team needs to sit down and have a chat with him and explain that they've been putting all of the nasty bad guild features in the game anyways, that people are using them, and he needs to just bite the bullet.

Private group. You can see when everyone is online. Radar identification as all your guild mates will be hollow icons. Recruiting privileges will need some work :D

I find it funny that you fail to understand even remotely what their talking about in that convo.

As a 13 year EvE veteran, I can say, You have no clue buddy, but I'll tell you, it's not Guilds they are discussing.

As a veteran (note lack of game title) I'd say you're a gamer not a veteran.

As a gamer I'd say you shouldn't overdo it on one game (definitely not for over a decade) or you'll become unable to adapt to other games and start demanding they get changed to suit your narrow view of whats acceptable.

ok, because apparently it needs to be said: exist in the main Open environment. And because your being pedantic, have at least 2 members. (A single person I guess would otherwise satsify all those conditions, but would be uninteresting)

Sorry friend. Maybe in next life...

Private groups completely segregate the guild from the rest of the players, which is why members of Mobius have a 1200 page thread going asking for an Open PvE game mode.

The people you are trying to protect are actually the people who would benefit the most from guilds. Mobius wouldn't have any problems at all in Open if they were united in one cohesive 11,000 man force.

I play a lot of games Eso ED EvE Tera and a few others. So no worries about me doing that.
