I mean sure, canon animals should probably generally take precedent over non-canon ones. But that doesn't mean I have to like ugly hybrids. And the spinoceratops is a particularly ugly hybrid that doesn't even have nostrils.
And aside from some of the new dinosaurs from JWD, most of the major roles of the canon animals have been added to the game already. There's just a few left that have reasonably minor roles or don't fit for other reasons. Yes, the Scorpius was added. But generally, this game and the new film have been moving away from hybrids. The Smilodon is another example here I don't think it will fit. Smilodon is a cool animal. But just adding Smilodon would leave it kinda alone and out of place. Imo you'd have to do a hole Pleistocene pack for it to fit in better. And I think that's unlikely. Also with the possible exception of the T. rex and Kentrosaurus we don't really have a good place for Mantah Corp animals in the game either.

In general, I think new animals should be added based on their merit. Be it that they are canon, or that they add something new or interesting to the game. Tarbosaurus or Daspletosaurus are suggested fairly often. Personally, I don't think they'd add that much since we already have large and smaller Tyrannosaurids in the game. So if a Tyrannosaur should be added, then I'd vote for the canon Teratophoneus. But then there are probably more interesting animals that could still be added, canon or not.

I agree on merit, I just think that hybrids have their own merit to a certain point. I think they represent a central aspect of the Jurassic World franchise and a thematical follow-through of the themes of the franchise. I just think that deserves slightly more than the current selection of small indo, big indo and malformed indo.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want dozens of them - heck to be honest I'll be more than fine if they just dust off the old three and don't take time away from other dinosaurs in development. But those three were enough in my opinion to give the game a variety it now lacks. Theme park freakshows and mad science stations fit in with this franchise very well in my opinion, a very exaggerated take on the mix and match genetics that started with amphibian DNA and led to Jurassic World. Without that small selection of different hybrids they're pretty empty.

That removes another avenue of design in a game that's fairly limited already - there's not much more to do now than rebuild the movie parks or make a preserve. That's enough for some people, but I really enjoyed the crazier designs as a palate cleanser. (And they didn't bring my immersion down since I could decide not to use them if I didn't want to but also because some of the depictions of actual dinosaurs in this franchise leave them fairly unobtrusive IMO.)

Also, I did think at some point that the franchise was moving away from the mix and match genetics that led to hybrids, but that honestly didn't turn out to be the case. Since the moment Trevorrow said "no more hybrids like Indominus" we got Parasaurolophus Lux, Skorpios Rex, Spinoceratops, Skorpios Rex and Parasaurolophus Lux added to JWE and then in Dominion itself... Well, between the locusts "altered with cretaceous DNA" and Blue being able to spawn offspring by herself because of monitor lizard DNA? No hybrid monster villain this time hasn't exactly convinced me they've "moved away" from the concept and some of the "actual" dinosaurs might as well have been hybrids with the oversized new raptor types that either use the Indoraptor's laser pointer method or can turn themselves into a torpedo.

(It also doesn't help that by putting all the Dominion content behind an optional paywall it means the base game is essentially set back to a Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom game, leaving Dominion's intent relatively meaningless.)

To each their own. I agree with your reasoning about merit, we just disagree on what merit means for this game.

Guys, I do not want to dwell too much, I appreciate all your proposals, any dinosaur lover always wants more and rebuilt in the best way.
I only request "The Lost World" Pteranodon Skin 1997 DLC, I think it is inexplicable and unfair for true Pteranodon fans, not to be able to use the first and original Pteranodon of the Jurassic series, moreover it is also the one most similar to the real Pteranodon.
With the official license it shouldn't be that hard to make, I just ask for this for myself, then all other animals are welcome !

Yeah that would be a great idea for the future so the thread doesn't get buried and it gets more attention. Plus it would be more easier for the Community Managers for species suggestions. Then going through possibly 10s of thousands threads just to find the most wanted species. I mean look at our Planet Zoo counterpart. In Planet Zoo's most recent dlc it had all the community top voted animals in the pack. So I do agree it should be pinned and probably moved to Features and Requests.

Supersaurus: I really like diplodocus’s body shape but want a version that’s longer and without spikes on it.

Lambeosaurus: Has the best looking crest of the hadrosaurs, as long as it’s lambei and not the other species that looks like Corythosaurus.

Protoceratops: The big ceratopsians are well represented. We need something small, but not too small.

Aquatic
Shonisaurs: Don’t leave ichthyosaurus as the only ichythosaur.

Variants/Skins
Elasmosaurus (Jurassic Park 3 Park Builder Variant): The current model is very creative but I’d like to have the option for the traditional plesiosaur look.

Parasaurolophus lux (pattern options): The skins are very nice, but needs pattern customization.
