The night and day between NPC intelligence

As a new player to Elite Dangerous I have been making the bulk of my money in bounty hunting. Typically I find a system with a main spaceport near a nav bouey and roam around the area taking on targets with bounties. The A.I. combat skill difference between novice/harmless and elite/dangerous is great. The A.I. ability to maximize their current ship ability with their weaponry at a higher skill level truely makes the dogfights an absolute glorious dance of barrel rolls and power management.

However I cannot not express the utter lack of A.I. intelligence when it comes to friendly fire or deciding my cobra is better suited as hood ornament on the front of their anaconda. 80% of all my ship losses/deaths have been from friendly A.I. fire (most often local system security) or mostly from them ramming my ship often at full speed. I swear they are like pittbulls, with an utter disregard for anything but their target. I can understand the off hand stray shots but seeing how I as a player have to check my aim and shots while the npc's seemly can rain death and destruction on anything in their path. This comes after a particular painful loss of about 400k in bounties as a Allied Fed Anaconda rained missiles on me, (aimed for the target in front of me I was shooting at) knocked out my already low shields, then was rammed by viper and instantly killed.

Is anyone else having this issue or am I just having really bad luck? Is their anything in place to improve the NPC A.I. in regards to this or make it that bounty rewards are instantly awarded instead of hoofing back to the local starport?

An AI eagle interdicted my python a few days ago, demanded cargo (I had none) and immediately started shooting. Sanity check: Fail.

Yes the ramming and not checking fire is a issue, it is really bad in the asteroid fields.
If you are encountering this during interdiction's you can turn off "report crimes against me" to keep the AI's from jumping in to "help out" as a lot of things i think some aspects of the AI are a work in progress.

I love this game but every time this happens I just lose all will to continue playing for the night. Also I think "ramming" itself is not considered an act of aggression, which may or may not be a broken game mechanic. I will have to check but I am pretty sure you can ram a unshielded NPC that is not hostile, instantly destroy them in the process, and not be flagged as a pirate or aggressor. Which means I will be renaming my character to Battering Ram Sam, getting an anaconda and being the bane of all haulers, adders and sidewinders foolish enough to be near the entrance to the star port as I am either leaving or entering.
