The number of backers is going to explode after E3 ?

In your opinion ? A massive influx of new backers ? Mainly American ?

no i think the world will finally realise that there are many better games out there and that ED is all but vaporware.

following on from that i expect lots of brits to drop their backing of ED and the forum to die a short but brutal death.

ok, there will be a few new backers from outer mongolia, but meh :D

(sorry that op is just too smarmy for a tuesday morning, for any morning, afternoon or night in fact)

Seriously doubt "massive" influx. It´s not like ED has been completely under the rock, it has had a fair share of publicity in game press.

But i´m sure (and hope) that it will get a steady stream of new backers. :)

High cost will still keep a lot of users away....probably a good thing too ...let all the bugs and glitches get worked out.

I think a lot of it will hinge on SC being shown today.

If CIG can pull off a good demo then they'll get a lot of the press and highlights. FD follow up the next day at 11am and hopefully they have plenty to pull out of the bag :)

I think in terms of Oculus Rift demos ED will blow SC out the water and I think that's where ED could make some good headlines. It wouldn't surprise me if FD and Oculus don't at least have one dev each with them working over the week they are there on improving the integration.

Its interesting to see that ED gained over a 1,100 new backers in the first two days that SC's Arena Commander went live. That was a pretty big increase in such a short period of time... I wonder why? ;)

But yes, I think E3 will give Elite even more exposure to new markets. That's why Frontier are out there isn't it :)

52,700 backers so far - lets see how many there are come the weekend.

Now its 52719 :) I think we will see more backers after E3. We already have a big community and it will become bigger.

Raised: £3,188,860 Backers: 52,581

these were numbers 20hrs ago, will be interesting to see how they change today/tomorrow ;)

This is the latest graph (no intermediate numbers of last week, sorry)

Argh, crazy US dates make it hard to read. 5 June first, then the 5th day of the 13th month we don't have, then...

Now I have my head around it, the release of the beta had a remarkable effect, you can see the upturn in the slope really well.

It's google docs, sorry. I share the pain there ;)

And yeah, you can even see Alpha 4 release significantly and permanently increasing the rate of growth. I think E3 won't have that much of a direct impact on sales, but it'll lay a good foundation to keep ED in the minds of gamers, and in the headlines. Both very important to have by the time the actual Beta phase starts.
