Saw this somewhere:

"I feel like potatoes don't get enough recognition for their versatility.
Breakfast? Hash browns.
Fast food? Fries.
Fancy dinner? Baked potato.
Holidays? Mashed potato.
Relaxing at home? Chips.
Party time? Vodka.

There's a potato for every occasion.

I do not think that many people do not like the potatoes.

The Vodka can be a unifying element.

I do not think that many people do not like the potatoes.

Did you know, that if you go to a Kentucky Fried Chicken store in Asia, (Philippines for an example) instead of fries,
you get a serve of rice to go with your "Zinger" - spicy chicken fillet burger... You can still ask for fries of course.

Now consider the size of population in Asian countries, all the people who choose rice over potatoes.

I do not think this. I speak from experience.

Of course the basic food of the Asian people is the rice.

However it does not mean that they do not like the potato.
