.... Interesting way to hang someone

... I'm guessing the testing phase was short & horrifying

François Reichelt, born in 1878 in the Czech Republic, is a French tailor of Austrian origin, known for being killed the February 4, 1912 by jumping from the first floor of the Eiffel tower to test a parachute suit of his manufacture. He hesitated for a long time before to jump

I'm sure the drop was long enough to reconsider a lot of life's choices...

Funny this is getting brought up now. My crazy girlfriend has talked me into jumping from a perfectly good airplane for her birthday next weekend.

Hope I still get to see ED season 3...

I appreciate you Mr Reichelt.. You magnificently mustached man, for laying the groundwork... May the hole I put in the ground be much less deep

U.S. patent number 221855: "Improvement in fire-escapes"

"a parachute attached, in suitable manner, to the upper part of the body, in combination with overshoes having elastic bottom pads of suitable thickness to take up the concussion with the ground."

Well... his head would probably land safely.
Unless the rubber shoes bounced his body back up and he collided with himself.

Seen on a T-shirt at the airfield where I go skydiving:

"There is no such thing as a perfectly good airplane"

(And on the back of another T-shirt: "If you can read this, do not let me leave the aircraft")

... I cannot rep you at the moment, but this gave me a good chuckle...

For the record however, I consider any aircraft that is flying instead of falling, and only smoking from places the smoke should be coming from, as a "perfectly good airplane":D

Ug. This is very bad science, bizarre, and very disturbing. If the video is authentic I'm scarred for life.

*Do not try this at home boys and girls. Tie a rock to your new parachute design to test it first. Please.
