Dmitri, I am more sorry than you are.GENTLEMEN! YOU CAN’T FIGHT IN HERE, THIS IS THE WAR ROOM!
Gankers tend to collect together, and there aren't that many of them and in this situation there are so many player hotspots. A lot of them are staying in Shin, I suspect this is because they don't want to have to deal with the risk of getting interdicted and attacked by Thargoids, especially in shield tanks. Not to disturb your bickering, but I just dropped in to add another datapoint to the neverending debate. The last two weeks I was running primarily evac missions in Thargoid alert systems. I was doing it mainly to get a few more flight hours down to re-learn flying with my new twin-stick setup, so I didn't really care what happened as long as I sat in the cockpit.
I am flying in a somewhat fast and well protected Python these days (because Thargoids), so I decided to do it in open. Shocking, I know. It was harmless, and kind of nice to run into so many CMDRs doing stuff for the war effort. I was not ganked, in fact I didn't meet any of them. So there you go. It is possible. But I think there was never any real doubt.
I still stand by my original statements about the ganking community and their less likeable specimens (I still don't like them), and maybe it is just a matter of time (or time zones) until they swarm the rescue ships - or maybe it is the distance from the other hotspots. Maybe the gankers also lose a bit of their sinister image if you are getting used to be ganked by Thargoids anyway. Who knows. It still would be awesome to be able to go to ShinDez or Sol and feel like going to a mall on saturday afternoon instead of running the idiot gauntlet (oh crap I said idiot again. Sue me).
Simply that i don't see Open as 'better' than Solo?I did wonder whether my profile was visible to others, that thread the other day got me wondering
So explain for the audience what my point is, and why you don't think it applies here.

Its exactly the same universe without the hassle.

It is a choice to be made, the modes do offer options. I like to play in Open and deal with the threats overalll but........FWIW I play in open but switch to solo for engineering/busy places sometimes.
If game would go open only, I'd most likely would continue to play it like now, just keep blocking the nuisances. But I think quite many would stop playing. The 'greener grass' in your case would be fewer players then I guess, and presumably the game is just fine for you as it is (it is for me too as far as modes are concerned).
How would you react to the game going Open Only? Would you continue to play, modifying your behaviour to accommodate open play, or stop playing?
Nope i would stop playing if it as Open only or just block every muppet i come across and stay out in the Black, but chances are i would just leave. The 'greener grass' in your case would be fewer players then I guess, and presumably the game is just fine for you as it is (it is for me too as far as modes are concerned).

Open PVE mode is what im really holding out for but at the moment Solo and PG with mates are just fine.

Block, log out, relog. That would deal with pad blockers, and what ever people trying to troll others. You wrote 'nope' then went on to agree with everything I said in that post, and confirmed that to you, the grass looks greener.
What I have is one place everyone can enjoy (in principle) & I think that's what a lot of people want if they are not already happy with the way the modes currently work.
It seems to me the only people unhappy with the status quo is the selfish or intolerant. In your ideal open PvE mode, how would you handle pad blockers or other thoughtless or selfish Cmdrs? Switch back to solo? Where do you draw the line?

Blocked, obviouslySo Open PvE doesn't actually offer any solutions Open doesn't offer already, there would still be 'trolls'. You'd really block someone just because they were docked on a pad & you were in a hurry? How long would you wait before you block them?
What about station rammers that blow themselves up against your hull if you are speeding?
Well against pad takers it does not need to be permanent one. You know one CAN remove people from block list.So Open PvE doesn't actually offer any solutions Open doesn't offer already, there would still be 'trolls'. Well PVE mode removes most easiest and commonest way to disrupt others gameplay. Unwanted PVP. Other ways need some set up, and can be easily identified as trolling. Perhaps even to the point where Fdev bans trolls for good.Gotta say if the purpose of an Open PvE mode is to get away from all the trouble makers those players that can no longer shoot at you are probably going to find other ways to be irritating (assuming that's their aim).
I mean, you can just do that already in Open right now. You said that's what you do earlier in the thread. What would you do if someone shoots at you right now? Block them?

Where ever individual player draws it. Or when it comes to banning someone, something like "you have a lot of accidents with your 1% hull Sidey..."So where is that line drawn?
