I would like to join in this but not sure if I qualify.

My 2nd account is a pure explorer, I can only earn credits by exploring, and am not even allowing myself the luxury of buying fuel; I have to scoop it. the problem is that I've now upgraded to an Adder, and really don't want to have to clear save what I've done so far

You can earn a living as a Colonial Explorer - the colony now has a Universal Cartogrphics office in Jaques Station, plus there is the Colonia Explorer role available on CCN.

The challenge is the one you set yourself - many see the appeal of a cleared save and fresh start, but use your adder if you want to.

I guess a little bit of flexibility with the guidelines is ok, so as long players aren't signing up with the intention of flying a fully rigged out expensive ship with millions in the bank, they should feel free to join. Its a personal challenge, not a competition at the end of the day

Well, after DW and the rift and Jaques, I've got plenty of exploring under my belt. And no matter how much more I do, I'll not progress any further, so this gives me a new goal.

Plus, there's no great challenge now. I've got ships in storage that I don't use, plenty of cash, etc; so other than the stories, there's no real goal. Going back to a fresh start gives me the chance to write a fresh chapter. starting with why a seasoned pilot finds himself harmless in a startwinder

I am not ready to reset my save I just make my first 100 milion but this would be fun

I know it can be done just takes a lot of hopping, I am not sure the Sidewinder jumps

I am on the back side of Jaques now only 20 jumps hops out in my sidewinder I am returning form Sag A*

I found 2 unexplored earth type worlds near the core and the view with all the stars is awesome;

it took 1418 jumps to Sag A* in a Sidewinder for me.

I'll clear the save on my second account and join in the Outlander Challenge. I won't be travelling without a DSS scanner at least though, I've done that before for A* Buckyball runs and it's too frustrating when you find an ELW and can't fully scan it.

My second account is currently called CMDR the raikobot, but I'll probably swap the name when I clear the save.

My second account was originally bought to experiment with a "CG only" and I used it at the CGs that created a new station at the LHS 3447 starter system.

There's a Hi-RES in LHS 3447 at a GG orbiting the primary star, it's more than 1000ls from entry so the RES doesn't show up when you arrive. I used my starter sidewinder there during the CGs and tag-teamed with the security ships, it was risky, but I made enough to buy a c-grade Viper-III after a single visit. So if you're careful it's a quick way to pay for the FSD upgrade and fuel scoop before heading to Jaques.

My time in LHS 3447 was before 2.1, so the pirates will be more dangerous now, but the authority ships will also be more effective. I'd advise anyone following my advice to hang around the RES for 5-10 minutes without shooting anything and let the traffic build up before teaming up with the authority ships. They'll have an effective wolf-pack by then and you should just need to scratch the paint of a pirate 'conda or two to pay for the FSD/Scoop.

Officially Signing up as i've bought my second account. New commander name is Ren Kasen(old RP name that spawned my forum/main's name years ago). I likely won't set off until sunday since it's my day off, but in the meantime i might flesh out some kind of RP side to this account. I'm also thinking of trying my hand at streaming for this as well. All will depend on how I feel after work tomorrow =P

is it just fitting the FSD/scoop before venturing into the dark or can we also grab scanners/some D grade components and still qualify under the challenge?

I fitted all D rated and best scoop and fsd plus earned enough for the advanced Disco scanner but no detailed scanner, I'm taking 2d shields and a pair of fixed pulse. Can never be too careful these days. Took me a day to mission and fit after the save was cleared. Quite refreshing being back in a sidey with only 2 rebuys

Guys and gals, everyone who are about to clear their save/buy second account for this, now is extremely good oppotunity to get the money for A graded Sidewhiner.
Morai CG is underway and with only 4 tons of for example superconductors you will most likely reach top75%. That would give you atm 5,4 million creds, and its growing fast and will reach more tiers until next Thursday.
You will not, most likely stay at top75% with 4t, but only 17Ly away is a system of Nahuatl where to buy those, so that isnt a big trip with Sidey.

I have just begun my Sidewinder quest, i have been doing boom deliveries the whole day to get FSD which would get me to Morai.
I will then deliver few loads to Morai and hopefully, that will give me those few million credits needed to outfit my Sidey for a trip to Jaques.

Warning I am in Jacques now the ships that are available are;
Sidewinder, Eagle, Adder, Viper MkIII, Type-6.
The Sidewinder and Adder only have D rated modules as the best option.
I assume the other ships are the same way, if so it will be a while before you can build a highly rated ship in the new bubble.

Just a heads up and I would A rate my Sidewinder before I made the jump, but that is just me.

How many times have I said it I wonder? Yet I ignored my own advice, and paid the price, and here I am. I always knew a redhead would be my downfall.
I used to be somebody. I had ships ready to fly throughout known space, ready access to credits. I was welcomed in Alioth and Achenar, even Sol. I had access to Shinrata, I was Elite! I’ve fought for freedom in Lugh and countless other systems, patrolled the rift with Salomé, and crossed the galaxy with the largest fleet ever seen.
But that’s all gone now. I guess the Feds have a long memory, and my luck ran out. It all came crashing down, and I became persona non grata, not just with the Feds, but everywhere. Thankfully I had a couple of strings left to pull, so here I am with a new identity. Just another nobody, with a licence, a beat up sidewinder and a few credits. There’s a call to set up a new centre of humanity out near the core, so I guess I’ll head out there; away from what used to be, and start a new life.
They say that when you hit the bottom, the only way is up; so I guess I’d better start climbing!
