The Pallas's cat quality

While I'm excited for the upcoming DLC, I feel something needs to be said about the headliner, the Pallas's cat.

Spoiler: Planet Zoo's Pallas's cat

While I don't want to be mean, it has to be said that the model for the Pallas's cat is quite bad. The overly square head, the stretched eyes, and the overall proportions being off means that this looks more like a model from the base game back in 2019 than the kind of animal that I know the Planet Zoo staff is capable of making in recent DLC's.

I emphasize this because the African leopard that's being released for the anniversary looks amazing. So I know Frontier can make an amazing felid.

For comparison sakes, here's an image of a real life Pallas's cat.

My goal is to have the model changed to be more accurate to the real animal. This is something that's been done often for several species such as the Malayan tapir, binturong, black rhinoceros, dhole, and more.

I support this. Is really weird. Idk if i could even call it Bad. It just doesn't look like a Palla's cat. It looks like a cartoon. I would like to see more pictures of the ingame cat but at the very last the eyes should be changed. Idk why they struggle so much with felines eyes. The amur leopard and sand cat suffer of the same issues.

Squeeze the eyes, lower the mouth and make it fatter then perfect!

I will agree something is off on it but hey I’m just wishing they’d remake this guy.

The animal that has always needed a remaster the most period.

Here's the thing though

I'm harsher on the Pallas's cat because it was made at a point where Frontier should already be on their game

Hell, even the sand cat could use some attention but I assume, at this point, that's considered old news. Which is unfortunate but that's life

I don't see such a problem with the model. It's a very small animal and the picture is taken from below while the cat is moving his head back while lying. Get a picture of yourself in that position and with the same angle and you might get scared lol. We have to wait to see more of the model before we jump into any conclusions.

Yeah agree, like I'm sure some of the current issues will still be present when we get a better look but we have yet to actually see the thing even move or from a proper in-game screenshot

Exactly.
I think that perhaps the eyes are just partially close because the cat was squinting or blinking, and maybe everything else too looks off because of the angle or the pose

Like, when i first saw this image i thought the cat was smilling, than in further inspection i realized it was doing the regular grumpy expression of a Pallas cat.

To me the cat from the poster is easily recognisable as a Pallas's cat. It probably could be improved, sure. But it's hard to say when we only have one picture.
Just looking at the photo of real one I think maybe the issue with the model are the eyes, they look too far apart. And perhaps the snout should be smaller. But overall I think the model looks pretty good.

to me the sand cat and Pallas cat look a bit chubby compared to fluffy. Certainly not Garfield fat cat type but their fur could use some more detail.
I’ve never seen any before, I would purrfurrr them to look like the wild cats they are as opposed to domestic cats.

I think biggest thing is it's eyes. They are too far apart and stretched out.

However, one thing that it has to have is a resting animation of it sitting its paws on its tail to keep warm!!!!!!!

The developers have to put that in! It's what they're known for!

I can't bring myself to care about these minor issues anymore. All I can think is that I hope they redo a lot of the models for the sequel.

I thought they were better known for having the grumpiest expression of any cat, and living at higher altitudes than any other, even higher than snow leopards.
