The Pallas's cat quality

I think one thing to keep in mind is that this is a tiny animal super up close.
From the distance from which you will look at it in game you probably wont notice the fur quality being any different than other animals.

I mean this is what the sheep look like from the same distance, and i think everyone pretty unanimously agrees that its one of the best looking animals from where you normally look at it in game.
I think we dont have to worry about the cat tbh

What i meant was that weird fizzly effect on the fur of the belly, which seems to happen when you look at the fur from certain angles and zoom in alot, which is what i think is mostly the reason for why the cats fur looks weird. And you pretty much only look at the cats fur from weird angle, except for the face and there it looks normal

Frontier is bad to make Cats models, every cat in Planet Zoo is far from realistic and they'are a bit strange. The ungulates and reptiles in PZ are much better.

We're debating this over 1 photo, though. How many times have we assumed a model is bad and it just turned out that the angle of the photo was bad?
Don't be quick to judge, wait until a better screenshot is released. We haven't even seen the cat in action

Umm none? All the times i can remember we thought a model was Bad or wrong we were right.

I'm only just now hearing about the sand cat and the Amur leopard being bad models. Back when we saw them there weren't any problems.

The Main problems with the other cats were the same than the one with the Palla's cat now. The face shape and specially the eyes. The amur leopard had droopy said cartoonish eyes and that turned out to be the case ingame as well. The sand cat head shape and eye alignment looked very weird in the photos and while it does look a little better ingame the problem is still noticeable, specially when you compared with the remaster. And now the Palla's cat has a similar issue.

While the Amur Leopard's eyes are really off, I think the Sand Cat is an example for the opposite: We thought it looked bad in the first screenshots but ingame it's really okay.
I hope the Pallas Cat is just squinting in the artwork.

I think this case is a bit different since we have only seen the cover art. It won't look completely the same as the in-game animal.

By the way, when I nitpick the models, I don't do it do be mean

I do it because Frontier's made amazing models and I know their capabilities

Btw, seeing more pics, it looks better but I still feel there are parts of the face that could be better.

I had to go searching for this thread. I've seen people say they are excited about the Pallas cat but all I can think is how BAD the model looks! The new screenshot just reinforces this. Like did they look at any reference photos of Pallas cats? The face should be horizontally elongated, not vertically. It's missing its iconic fluffy cheeks that give the face an almost rectangular appearance. The muzzle is all wrong. The neck should be short. For some reason Frontier has made the neck elongated and wider than the head.

What a pallas cat is supposed to look like:

Look at the size of those arms. How are we five years into this game and they still can't figure out how to model thick fur? Why is making the models/body parts morbidly obese apparently a work-around for figuring out how to model fur?

Yeah. Also its expression should say "Hurrmph." Not, "Hey, girl".
If it doesn't stand on its tail a lot of people are going to be pretty upset.

Even if the whole community complained about it, they wouldn't fix it. It took them an eternity to fix the Malayan Tapir, and now the end of the game is near. There are no more eternities left, and no staff who seem to care. So I'm just glad that we got the Pallas Cat at all.

A modded rework is already being planned so that's really the only option left for those that bothered by it. I don't think we can expect any of the zookeepers pack animals to receive an improvement no matter how much complaints appear.

Honestly I think the markhor model is top-notch. I genuinely don't see anything explicitly off about it.
