The Path to the Tasmanian Devil

If I could market for a Mountains pack, I feel like there are significant zoo animals that would fall under this category. Tasmania is defined by mountains, especially Cradle Mountain. So the Tasmanian devil would fit. Also this list is centered on diversity of taxa, region, and popularity. With popularity, I think it needs to be balanced similar to Wetlands where the entire list can't be composed of top animals, but different tiers and even some "dark horse." (Pun unintended but basically animals not on the wishing radar).

Tasmanian Devil - top meta list
Spectacled Bear - carnivore megafauna
Markhor - mountain ungulate from past zoo tycoon games, pairs with snow leopard areas
Gelada - popular primate
Pallas Cat - the "meme" animal plus adding another small cat to game
Greater Rhea - SA Bird choice
Alpine Marmot - rodent for taxa diversity
Mangshan Pit Viper - lack of Asian exhibit animals + snake with theme

Other options could even be Kiwi, Takin, Guanaco, pudu, Japanese Giant Salamander, Tanuki, hamadrayas baboon,, Bighorn sheep.

Such a unique choice. I love it

i was thinking in something like a "dangerous animals pack" with animals like the Green Anaconda, the King Cobra, the Wolverine and the Honey Badger, i think the Tasmanian Devil could be part of this kind of animals

I am also a believer in a bird pack in December, or maybe a bird pack in disguise that could fit in one or two non-bird species. Frontier seem to like to twist their themes a bit this year.

This could maybe open the door for a small mammal pack or something like that later on. I could see a devil in that.

I feel like a carnivore pack would be a good choice. It would feature nature's most famous meat eaters.
  • Tasmanian Devils
  • Honey Badger OR Wolverine
  • Nile Crocodile (or some other reptile)
  • Striped Hyena
  • Caracal
  • Coyote
  • Secretary Bird OR Kori Bustard
  • Exhibit - King Cobra OR Emerald Tree Boa
  • Walkthrough Exhibit - Griffon Vulture (if that's safe)

Marsupial Pack
-Tasmanian Devil
-Bennetts Wallaby / Red necked Wallaby or Yellow-footed rock-wallaby
-Virginia Opossum
-Matschie's tree-kangaroo
-Central greater glider (Walkthrough Exhibit)

In Case of a Animal Pack:
+
-Water Opossum
-Brushtail Possum
-Black Wallaroo or Eastern Wallaroo

This is honestly almost tempting. Getting inundated with the red fox, striped skunk, and raccoon all at once is making me feel greedy for the Virginia opossum too, which I'd previously never placed much priority toward.

More so than that, I just need Bennett's wallaby. I think it's honestly my "if only one more animal could be added" animal at this point. Getting the wombat really hit it home for me that I'm just kind of sick of building these phoned in, unrealistic Australian sections that are forced to prioritize rarities over what I'd actually expect to see in any given real life zoo.

I'm still hoping we can somehow squeeze out a full Oceania pack, but it's definitely not a winter DLC and I'm not sure just how much longer it's reasonable to expect more support at this point. I mean, there's more than enough reasonably popular species left to support such a pack, even without the platypus and wombat.
  • Emu
  • Bennett's wallaby
  • Matschie's tree kangaroo (or Goodfellow's, whatever)
  • Tasmanian devil
  • North island brown kiwi
  • Short-beaked echidna
  • gonna catch flak for this one, but: southern hairy-nosed wombat... or little blue penguin, tiger quoll, numbat, perentie, black swan, kunekune, whatever. I'd unironically take the other wombat, though.
  • Tuatara, or depending on where they take walkthrough exhibits maybe rainbow lorikeet or laughing kookaburra or even budgerigars. Tons of options here.
Anyway that's probably my first choice for how to get the devil in, too.

I'd absolutely love to get a Pack with australian Birds too. There are so many australian Birds I need for my Zoos (Brush Turkey, Lyrebird, Kookaburra, Black Swan, Emu and the mentioned Walkthrough Birds) and I'd actually like a proper New Zealand Pack (would be nice to get both the Tuatara and the Giant Weta🦎🦗)
