There was a comparison video that showed the ps4 had better surfaces than the xbox, the xbox looked a bit more soft, looks like frontier have nerfed them to be the same, maybe it was to improve performance

If this is true then I would be very upset. My planet surface performance has always been fine, even when planet surfaces looked nice. If they are nerfing the PS4 just so it doesn't make the XBox look bad, then they should nerf ED on the high-end PCs as well.

Of course you're speculating at this point, right? (That's something we used to do all the time back before ED released). I wish I remembered which moons / planets I landed on that impressed me pre-patch so I could make a direct comparison. Like I said, perhaps I'm just finding "fluffy" planets lately.... Hopefully other vanilla PS4 owners can confirm or deny what I think I'm seeing.

Do you run with performance or enhanced visuals for your graphics setting? Your moon surface looks amazing.

Quality mode, I have noticed I am taking screens in JPG too, I need to change that to PNG as it will look better, the planets/moon surfaces on the Pro are the standout feature for me.

A question for HOTAS4 users: is it me or can't I do freecam without also still controlling the thusters? I just want to control the camera, but some controls still work on my ship while in freecam mode.... annoying.

Theres a button to press that unlocks you from your ship, check the camera controls to see what it is, or whether you have one assigned

Yes, R3, I can get into free mode.
The issue is that I control both camera as well as the ship on some occassions.

That maybe is something to do with the hotas then, never really noticed anyone else with that problem though, so hopefully someone with a hotas can shed some light on that one

Well I made it back, and in the process of selling data strategically at the moment so not sold everything yet and the station names have been blocked out because of the strategic part.

I have made 146M Cr once I sell all the data from the trip so not a bad haul and a few that I will post later once I know I have my name next to them including a Binary pair of Earth Like Worlds.

You have to go into controls and scroll down to the free camera settings. Throttle is double set - moves camera and activates thrusters. Find the setting and set the camera option to something else.

(as far as I know) I'm using the Frontier default HOTAS settings for that, so could well be... but that's just silly default settings imho! (*)

Anyway, thanks guys, I'll have a look when I get home.

Edit: (*) on the other hand , they also trolled us with boost and landing gear....
