The Pleiades - Explored (Black Hole Discovered)

Awesome! Looks like you beat me! How much did you get for the data sold?

Hmm, I think the data from Taygate was low, very low. Think I mentioned it in my post, and also think there was a bug with the scanners. Pleione, Atlas and Alcyone were good sellers from what I remember, as were the others around there. There are independent systems around 100 or so light years from there making it easier to get back and too.

Shok.

Currently sitting 0.4Ls away from the Maia Black Hole. Nice lensing effect!

Excellent stuff!! :)

I went there last week. Found everything but the black hole - I kept searching for it, but just couldn't find the thing.

Here's the video I made:

I sold the data for that system for around 40k cr.

I ended up finding it by going to approximately where I thought it should be (somewhere between the 3 brown dwarfs) and then aiming the Cobra wherever the FSD slowed down the most, all the while scanning away.
Eventually I must have wandered to within 500Ls.

You didn't lose out on any credits though. It seems you can't scan them, even with a detailed surface scanner.

I would really like to see a black hole effect similar to interstellar. That was proper cool and I think theoretically correct?

Why is everyobody so fond of the Pleiades? Because of a black hole?

It is such a recognisable part of the sky and pretty and interesting to look at. Everyone has heard of it and stories go back to ancient times about it. It is also in a zodiac constellation so all the Taureans will be interested in it. It is close to the anti-centre of the galaxy from Sol and if you didn't know, a company has it as its logo so it seems that it is a popular bit of sky.

So just two weeks ago I joined this game, and tried out exploring. Now I guess everybody and their mother has been to the Pleiades but I went there because I went to Pleione in FFE and thought it'd be a nice destination. No Thargoid junk this time though.

My question: at Maia I looked up the black hole in the system chart, and could set it as my destination, but then I saw nothing, except as a marker in space, a few thousand ls away. I know this game hasn't the consistent Newtonian way of moving around that FFE had, but how close can I approach a black hole without finding myself trapped in its gravity well? I would love going back and really taking a look.

In Frontier First Encounters you interacted with the Thargoids there.
Aaaand so, when the Thargoids will come, this place (the black hole) will be important...
I think that it will be because of the "Forbidden Zone" message dispalyed when you approach the black hole (less than 24,6 Km...)

You can use a detailed surface scanner on the black hole but you have to get rather close. I was able to fly quite near and run my scan, it was worth nearly 50000 credits.2015-12-04_00005.jpg
