Ok. A post to get this watched and hope someone will put up a pic or video of what the right shaped metallic with fissures looks like.
In the first part, yes. You soon get used to this, drop in, start mining straight away. When you get back to the bubble area, you suddenly remember when one drops in. As for the distance you need to be, no idea I'm afraid.Great guide but I have a question, can you go far enough out of the bubble that you are not bothered by pirates? If so roughly how far would you say was optimal?
Running a cutter with decent jump fully loaded (around 25 ish) and 576 tonnes with tools and scoop for a long run.
Are mining hotspots broken in Odyssey? I've spent hours in a musgravite hotspot but not a single rock has it. Pristine ring.
Thanks, but shouldn't it tell me what is inside the rocks when I prospect them, on the contacts panel for deeper lodes? I haven't found any with a musgravite core. However, if it's not known to be broken, I'll have another look once I've finished my current activity (I've gone on to salvage for now). You can find the fissures without the PWA, but for this you need to get very close. Not every yellow rock is a core rock though. Look for the very bright yellow ones. And if you found one, it's not guaranteed it's the one you expect according to its hotspot type. You either need a bit flexible and/or very patient. You still need to fire a prospector limpet, otherwise you can't target the fissures. I guess, not entirely sure, though. I never tried without. Start with low fissures if there are any. If only a little bit is missing, than go for a high. Fine tuning is still possible, depending on how long you hold the trigger. If you overload, you can (and should) disarm one of them. Requires a bit of practice, but then it's actually very easy.
Thanks for this. Something I've always wondered about but not had the time or skill to investigate. Not sure [*] if there is still any doubt that content and shape of asteroids are not related in any way. I was just lucky enough to find 2 asteroids of the same shape close to each other and took the opportunity and prospected both. I think the result speaks for itself:
[*] I'm on my own, not involved in discord or other mining groups and have almost no idea what the current state of knowledge is. Sorry if this is an old hat.
