I am actually sick of all the "realistic" crap....
Whoooohooo, lets have "realistic" background sim, where it takes loooooong to influence a star system an eeniewheenietiny little bit.
Hurraaah, you were heard! Now we are 3 months into the game, and most background sim bugs havent been found because the sim is so slow that that you never now whether the cat has moved or is dead. Because the cat is actually a turtle. On Valium. So you don't know whether the not movement is actually a bug or working as intended.
Because just one day later... hmmm, maybe if I spend another evening, we will actually see the dead horse moving, we just need to whip it a bit more.
You haven't seen any waiting in ED unless you played influence games.
Lugh is waiting for civil war for three months now. Oops, they have 85% influence. But a civil war? Naaaa.
Jotunheim.... the same.
Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corps have been or are active in at least 12 systems. Did one of them change allegiance? No, because it has to be REALISTIC... and SLOOOOW... and we got laughed in the face either by the ridiculously poor design decisions regarding timeframes (like the 25-day civil war cooldown to take another station), or states, or state triggers or the bugs that went along with them.
So the bugs and cooldowns that happen are sooooo slooooow that we play multiple system to encounter them all at once instead of one after another.
Waiting for the background simulation to be in a halfway playable state, that is a longer wait than anything else!
But wait...
We have planetary lights!
And we get Gas Giant clouds!
And we get a new heat model for the one thing that actually worked in the game!
And we get fixed dumbfires after 3 weeks of people running amok with them.
But every big system still has exactly 2^32 inhabitants.
And every small system has still the same population as at the start of the game.
I don't even have to look up the Population of Holiacan. It is 119.999
